Your Leads Are Hay Or Needles

"It's like looking for the proverbial 'needle in the haystack'. You just keep picking up the pieces of hay and asking 'are you a needle or a piece of hay?'"

Then it dawned on her, and on me as well as I read their conversation.

I wonder if you can find yourself in this analogy as well:

Sometimes we get into the mode of picking up a piece of hay and asking, "Are you a needle?" And then, when the hay reveals itself to only be a piece of hay we then begin the process to try to transform that hay.

1.You mile at it and cheer it on and try to motivate it into evaluating itself again to make SURE it's a piece of hay. 2.You coddle, caress, talk, and mold it do all sorts of things to try to force this piece of dry, dead piece of hay into a shiny and sharpened tool with a purpose.

So, how's that working for you? It's not. If you continue on that path you will find you are spending too much time trying to transform pieces of hay into needles. (Note: I AM convinced and know that every piece of hay has the potential to become a needle. However, I cannot make that happen. That has to be the hay's decision.)

That is why it's so important to have a funnel of prospects coming to you and a good avenue is your social media networking skills. You have a good number of fistfuls of hay to talk to! And while the hay may only be hay (for the time being) it is important to have some "hay fertilizer".

When All Else Fails Just Get Out There and Talk

Well the quickest way to get customers is just to believe that they will see what you see in your business. Be passionate and not afraid. Word of mouth is powerful. If you have a product or service try getting on Facebook or MySpace. Advertise to your friends. If they are your friend they will tell their friends you do not share. What I like about the social networking aspect is they (friends) cannot say you never told me. Maybe word will spread faster than you think.

My friend started her own salsa dip company. She had fifty plus orders in a day. The day when she let her dream out. Just go out and say "I am here". O.k.. I know that is so obvious. Well then do it.

First, talk to your closest friends if you have not. Second, get out and advertise on social networks. Third, do some advertising free and otherwise. Business cards are huge. Give that to your friend. That is a conversation starter! All I am saying is "do not hide". Tell everyone you can, serve them well, and build a reputation. If they do not know they will not know. If your children are using social networking or instant messaging platforms, try to keep an eye on what is going on. It's important to know what is going on in case there are hurtful comments and situations that your children are part of.

If there are comments in your children's contacts, be sure that you get them blocked as soon as possible. It's not useful for your child to see these comments over and over. Let your child know this this is something that can happen when using the internet.

Talk to your child about randomly accepting conversations with strangers. Most times when someone is bullied online there is a fake profile made where one will say hurtful things. If these strangers are avoided, it solves this problem and many others.

Don't let the comments continue. Do everything you can do to stop it as soon as possible.

Four weeks ago if you asked me what do you do, I could not answer that question, whether or not you gave me thirty mins. I'd doubtless respond with my job, an ESL Teacher. Have You Learned to Give Up?

The key word in that definition is perceived. We've all heard the various versions of you are what you think. What you think is very important because it often controls your actions. Maybe you go through the motions of trying to recruit, but your perception is that you will fail. No amount of training or pep talk can change that perception. Of course, this perception directly controls your actions and you do indeed fail.

Another important component of learned helplessness is that, even when placed in a situation where things can change and person can remove themselves from the unpleasantness, they don't do it. You perceive that you will fail, you do fail, and thus, when presented with a new idea, improved products, extra training, or any other help, you have learned that things don't work, so you give up before you even try.

Experiencing significant failure a number of times can be difficult to overcome. It is hard work to overcome the perception that you will fail again. It is even harder work to keep going. Recognizing that your past failures have caused you to develop this learned helplessness can go a long way to helping you overcome your past. If you have experienced failure and continue to experience failure no matter what you do, it may be time to step back and take a look at why. Are you letting your perception of your past failures influence how you talk to people? Are you enthusiastic about what you are doing?

Work with your trainer. If you are recruiting on the phone, go through a mock recruiting call. The trainer may hear things in your voice that you aren't even aware of. If you are recruiting face-to-face, practice is even more important. You can't talk to someone about an opportunity if you not even convinced you can do it yourself. Your body language and subtle things about the way you talk will give you away. A good trainer can help you overcome some of these issues and make this business a success!

When I do as I say - I feel so proud of myself.

6. Give yourself time out, This is a Home Business, so don't tie yourself to your computer! Get out go for a walk. You never know who you might meet!

How to Talk to People About Your Home Business in Person

But I do sometimes talk to people about what it is that I do.

You're not likely to build a huge downline in a network marketing program this way. You're not likely to make huge numbers of sales doing it. But it can help.

My personal preference is to just talk about my business or things I'm promoting in casual conversation. No actual sales pitch.

I generally don't get an immediate, interested response. But I do get a lot of people who long to work at home, and if it's a true wish, and something that I said interests them, eventually they'll come to me for more information.

I go about it more as a "what I do" kind of thing rather than "wanna buy?" It's really amazing the response I can get. People talk about work all the time. That mine is different and has potential for being at home gets a lot of attention.

In some ways it's like forum marketing. I'm being the expert while keeping on topics that people want to talk about. I'm not a walking, talking, blatant advertisement. I'm me.
