5 Simple Rules For Moms Starting a Web Based Business

Whether you left your corporate job to spend more time with the kids or desire to increase the household income, starting a web base business can be one of your best opportunities to bring in a secure stream of income. Plus the possibilities that a web base business offer provide a great sense of commitment and dedication to both the family and your career. Although as convenient as it is to make you both professionally and domestically efficient, working from home on a web base business could potentially cause some difficulties. Just imagine this scenario, you have a screaming child and a project nearing deadline which one do you deal with first?

It is not like because you tell your kids you are "on duty" that no unexpected events will come up. Plus who will do the dishes, the laundry, etc? Moms that decide to start a web base business working from home are often torn between work and household duties. A great question is, how do you separate both worlds? Although there are unlimited styles of parenting and managing households, moms who do choose to work from home ought to follow these 5 simple rules in order to accomplish maximum productivity:

1. Well established ground rule with the family. All members of the family should be involved during these discussions. If the children are still young and require close attention, consider hiring a caregiver, establishing ahead of time if this will be a temporary or more permanent solutions. It has been shown that moms are able to manage with part-time sitters since they end up not work the entire day anyway.

2. Clearly identify your work schedule. And the possibilities are endless on how best this schedule can be set up taking into account your likings, family, and other duties. Although whatever you do decide for this schedule, be sure that everyone is well aware of it in order to minimize interruptions and disturbances. Establishing set working hours also provides the children with the knowing that they their spot in your schedule and that learn to wait for their time instead of them barging in your home office whenever they feel like it. It is most beneficial to stick to your schedule, unless of course urgent events require your attention.

3. What policy will you implement closed or open door. You probably guessed right a closed door policy works better but only if you have a hired sitter. This provides the peace and quiet you need in order to work with a minimum amount of distractions. Plus this also allows your sitter to assume her responsibility with easy. But if you do not have a caregiver it is recommended that you work with the open door. This gives you the flexibility to be able to instantly check how the things are going with your children and the house. If that is the case maybe only close the door when you absolutely need the extra privacy for better concentration and or disruptions.

4. Become clear on which interruptions you can and cannot respond to during your work times. This should also be communicated to the reminder of the family to avoid misunderstandings. For best results be as detailed as possible and show self discipline. If you have a caregiver make sure to refrain yourself from running out of the office at the first sound of whimper; let go and let her do her job. In the event that your children are grown up communicate with them what your needs are and how that can help you achieve them. For a successful relationship you just need to talk to your children and remind of the guidelines.

5. Clarify your expectations with regards to how you want the kids to behave, the amount of household chores you will be responsible for, the level of noise you will accept, among other things. Once you are clear set yourself a plan. An example is to involve the children with household chores if they are older. Just be aware that certain adjustments are required for Moms and their families, during the beginning stages, of starting a web base business.

Effective Website Sales Funnels - Landing Page Expectations and Your Hard Media Campaign

These days many network marketing companies produce a DVD, a nicely printed opportunity presentation or both. They also encourage their members to get these materials into the hands of potentially interested people. Why? For some combinations of opportunity and marketer these work very well. Even if what you are offering does not already have these materials you might consider making them for yourself. Either way, how will you know if it will be worth the expense and effort? There are many factors that go into the success of a hard media campaign but one of the big ones is simple and direct. The video and the printed materials are, in the context of internet marketing, going to direct the interested person to a web page. The hard media materials are going to have created an expectation of some kind in the person or they will not be visiting the web page. That web page, also known as the landing page for your hard media campaign, either delivers on the expectations that were created or it does not. A large part of the success of your hard media campaign depends on this matchup between created expectations and ability of the landing page to carry those same expectations to the next level. Does the path created by the DVD video presentation and the printed materials of your offering lead to a front door that has the potential to successfully invite them to step inside your sales funnel? They will only step inside if the expectations they come to the door with can be found in the sign on that door.

Here is what you must do whether you get the materials from a network marketing opportunity company or make them yourself. Watch that DVD. Read those printed materials. Do this many many times and take notes on the expectations created in you. Ask others what expectations are created in them when they view these materials. Fully understand what expectations those materials are creating. Write them down and study all this until you know what that message is and who it is really going to speak to. Now, go to the landing page on the internet those materials ask you to visit. Does that first page match? Is it speaking to the same people about the same thing? Does it carry the expectations initially created forward to the next level? Will the audience these materials are really speaking to want to step inside the door? It is not particularly important if you personally would take that step with these materials and this landing page. After all, you might not be in the group of people this combination is really addressing. Since you have done the studying recommended above you will already know if you are in the group. You will also know whether or not that group can be consistently identified throughout the materials and the landing page. The important part is not whether or not you personally like it. Will the real target audience like it and find it valuable and will it fulfill their expectations? Will the real target audience find that the expectations they came here with from watching the DVD are carried a little deeper? Now you know the message of the hard media materials matches the message taken a step further by the front door. Now you know who these materials are really talking to. It is now far more likely that it will be worth the effort and expense to use the materials...if you put them into the hands of the same group or groups of people you identified in this process.

What do you do if you are working with a network marketing company and find the materials do not match the landing page? After all, they probably created both and you are probably just buying them from the company. Stop! Until they get the match up correct or you make your own it will, in my opinion, be a great big waste of your resources. Use other marketing channels until the matchup is achieved. In the absence of agreement between the DVD, the printed materials and the landing page of your sales funnel the only result of your marketing efforts will be a reduction in the credibility of both you and the company you are trying to earn your living through.

MLM Online Strategies - Best Practice Number Seven of Seven

I have outlined seven best practice strategies for getting your business up and running online. Here is number seven. (The first six are published on EzineArticles.)

Many of the online business builders are empty nesters like me. People who have built offline businesses, retired from successful careers, and/or quit corporate jobs. They understand the potential of a global internet business from home.

They are fully committed to creating wealth and will do whatever it takes as long as it's legal, moral and ethical.

The number seven best practice is about providing attractive content versus spreading spam.

I have found, working with other empty nester baby boomers, that working hard, providing value, and helping others is an integral value that comes from growing up after World War II. We have grown up with stories from our parents about the "dirty thirties". We've seen many people build businesses from absolutely nothing. We've grown up with a hard work ethic.

The more people I talk to the more I realize that people truly want to earn money so they can make a difference in the world. They have a big vision.

Although number seven best practice is about staying away from spam content and creating valuable content. The empty nester baby boomer group needs encouragement in the opposite direction. Often they are hesitant to share experiences and life lessons that they have to offer. They are fearful that they might be spamming people when, in fact, they are not.

They understand spam as being the same as the pushy door to door salesperson they encountered many times when they were growing up. Some door to door sellers would actually stick their feet or heads in the doorway so that the door could not be shut!

Spam is a new word for bad practices on the internet. It is not a new concept.

We all grew up with the salesperson following us around the store like a hawk. We don't want to use those tactics. Spam is pestering people with information that they have not asked for.

People in this age group need to let go and express their feelings, talk about their experiences and by doing this will automatically be giving value.
Empty nesters now have an opportunity to build an online business with the same hard work ethic they grew up with, but in a much shorter time frame.

Take advantage of all that the internet has to offer. Share your knowledge and experience and build an online business.

Go for it!

Corinne Floyd is a happy empty nester mom. She has raised three wonderful boys who have taken her life in directions she never even dreamed about. She is now putting her experience and enthusiasm into nurturing an online enterprise. Home Based Business Survival Secret #1

An often overlooked, disregarded, under-appreciated, and conveniently forgotten 'secret' to working at home is that cleanliness still counts! This is not just limited to the workspace area of the house; it applies to the whole house including the work-at-home occupant. After all, a major part of being productive is feeling productive. It is certainly hard to be or even feel productive if your desk is piled sky-high with a mountain of soda cans and the remains of your last meal.

If you are completely dedicated to the task of separating your workspace from the rest of your home, then you do not have to clean it at the same time if you do not want to. You should still make sure it does get properly cleaned frequently. It might be a good idea to add this to your 'to do' list or your scheduler to emphasize the importance of keeping your new work environment clean. Almost all businesses of any size have some sort of chart detailing whose job it is to clean which part of the office on which days, and your home office should not be any exception to this rule.

Any place that people live, germs breed. That is an indisputable fact, and if you live and work in the same place, you have more exposure to germs. Ask yourself if the cost of some extra cleaning products, especially anti-bacterial wipes and soap, are worth a significant decrease in the chance of becoming ill. Chances are that this is a fairly simple answer; yes. Buying cleaning products is not a panacea in an of itself, you have to use them regularly and properly to product your interest in staying productive and healthy.

Personal hygiene is a major part of the equation too. If you used to wake up, iron your clothes while you watch the morning news, go for a jog, take a shower, shave, put on deodorant, get dressed and head out the door, then the only part of this routine that should change is the very last part. Just because you are not leaving the door does not mean you should not be taking care of yourself in the same way that is gotten you to where you are today.

Just because you may not be face to face with peers, customers, or suppliers does not mean you should neglect your appearance. You might think that cutting corners and saving a few dollars on deodorant or aftershave is a good idea, but these are small prices to pay to be in peak shape. Clean without, clean within should be your motto, and it will help keep you razor sharp. The downside to not being clean in terms of hygiene vary from case to case, but it is never beneficial beyond saving a few dollars in the very short run. You risk distancing yourself from any person or group(s) that have routine contact with you, but most of all you risk losing that professional aura that can be extremely difficult to recapture.

Let us not forget that working from home is, well, working from home. As much as one tries to separate the two, they still manage to come into contact from time to time. If your neighbor's son accidentally threw his football into your backyard the parent(s) are likely to come over to ask permission to visit. You certainly do not want to answer the door to your house with an untidy work area, dressed in your pajamas, and smelling like you might be allergic to soap. Instead take the time to ensure that your work at home cleanliness is more work-like than a never-ending lazy weekend experience.

What Are the Homeworking Opportunities?

I had been working in the corporate world for just over two decades and I was wondering what the homeworking opportunities are and how to make money from a website?

Why a website?

Most of the day I sit in my office working with my staff and staying connected through the internet. Most of my staff are all in one city but they are scattered over 53 sites. Just over 20 years ago when I started in the organization we only met the management once or twice a month. You were expected to do your job with minimum supervision.

The ability to get connected through our corporate email or some of the other applications has certainly changed the ability to connect with people through out our organization instantly. The same is with the internet. Instead of only having a few thousand contacts a day that a really busy store will have the internet could have hundreds of thousands or possibly millions per day through your virtual door. Just by working from your own PC in your spare room the whole internet has opened up bringing all sorts of opportunities to your home.

A few years ago when my children were small and money was tight I tried several business ventures which were relatively successful. Mostly it was around building a telephone list and cold calling people to sell one product or other. I was paid on commission which did supplement my income and kept the bank from the door. On a good night you called around 20 people per hour which converted into 1 or 2 calls for the salesman to make the next day. I did not like it, the people I called didn't like it and all in all it was pretty fruitless. My work at home manager at the time could recount endlessly when he stared off, when cold calling was literally walking round neighborhoods knocking on doors. He claimed we had it easy.

But the opportunities that the internet has made mean that every home could be a shop front. It is opening up an exciting frontier in home working. The chance to develop a web based business and sell your wares to literally millions and get products delivered from your door to your customer has changed the face of retailing. Perhaps the day is not too far away when shop fronts become virtual totally and the overheads of working from a bricks and mortar site become redundant. My wife says that this will never happen because shopping on line is just not the same experience. There's no fun from dragging your spouse to the computer rather than round the mall all Saturday afternoon.

So probably at least in the meantime the shop fronts will stay but online retail and working from home is a steadily growing market. The opportunities for home working are just opening up.

Keep Your Foot in the Door - Ways Stay at Home Parents Can Stay in the Workforce

Once a child enters your life, all your priorities change. This includes your career priorities. Many parents, both mothers and fathers, decide to take time off work and focus on being a stay at home parent. Although they enjoy this immensely, many parents worry about how they will find a job once their little one is in school. They know they are losing years of working experience, and they are fine with that because it is for their child's sake. However, there are ways that stay at home parents can keep your foot in the door while keeping your children at the same time. Not only will you keep your working experience current and relevant, you also will feel as if you are contributing to the business world.

One way you can keep your foot in the door as a stay at home parent is by doing online work. There are so many job opportunities online these days that nearly any job can be done that way. You will not even have to change your career to do this. This is a great opportunity because many companies give you the option of choosing how many or how few hours you will work. This is great for stay at home parents because they can decide to work a few hours each day or just a few hours each week. Regardless of how few hours you choose, you still will be keeping your experience relevant.

Another way you can keep your foot in the door and still stay at home with your children is by freelancing. There are a lot more opportunities in freelancing these days than there were even five years ago, so it will be easier to find a job this way. Like the online work, you will be able to decide how often you will work. The great thing with the freelancing is that, once you decide to go back to work, you have the option of turning your freelancing into a full time job. You might find that you like it better than your previous job. It also will be convenient because you already know what to do so you do not have to go through weeks of training.

You might also find that, when you are searching for online or freelancing opportunities, you find a job in a completely new field. You are not limited to staying in the same field if you would rather challenge yourself to something new. Just because you chose to stay at home with your children, does not mean that you cannot keep your foot in the door.
