You Could Make Eight Thousand Dollars a Month - Ya Right!

So following up on my first article, I received another email from the guy that I bought the first system from. If you remember, that system automated the submission of articles to various article services and was suppose to be automatic - a push button system that would generate tons of targeted traffic which it did not. Well the new system that my guy was now selling was twice as good as the first one and would definitely make me all kinds of money if I simply followed the instructions contained in the system. And of course this new improved system was marked down from $ 249.00 US to an incredibly low $49.00 US. Well I had to take one for the team here and I bought this new improved system. It used the same methodology as the first purchase - it tried to up sell me by adding in more components, in this case training videos, for an additional $169.00. Needless to say I didn't opt in.

After reading through the information that I was sold, I found out what this system was suppose to do. It was to show you how to use the Pay per View methodology to buy traffic for your web site. It supplied a list of well known PPV suppliers and recommend a couple of them which I'm quite sure the author was an affiliate for. In other words, if you used those particular PPV networks, the author was compensated for what you spent. So here again, I think you can see that this author capitalized on all the FREE information that is available about using a PPV advertising network. As I have found out, sometimes the hard way, all of these so called gurus really don't know anything more than what you can find out for FREE if you do your homework. The fact of the matter regarding this package was that the information was fundamentally correct, the author simple got the costs and the time frame wrong. The information he supplied to indicate the success of his methods were either fabricated or were in fact a listing of his Clickbank account where he was selling his system.

Conned again you might say. Well not really because if you are reading this then you now have the information you need to avoid these types of offers. And believe me there are hundreds if not thousands of them out there. I think I'm on at least 15 or twenty mailing lists now. I get on the average 6 to 10 emails a day from these people and they all purport to have the next big system that will make me thousands of dollars if I only buy their system. The humorous part to this is that I will get two or sometimes even three of them all selling the same thing, but swearing that it's their unique offer that no one else has - you can only get this offer from me - kind of thing. Now I'm not saying that everyone out there that is selling or in some cases giving away information about how to make money on the internet is a fraud. Now I want to let you in on one particularly funny promotion that being sent out by a number of these marketing gurus. It starts like this - A financially broke guy spent his last cent on a trip to Vegas. He 'accidentally' bumps into an internet marketing GURU there and buys him 'endless' rounds of drinks. While desperately searching for answers to success... he gets the guru TOTALLY drunk to reveal his secret weapon. A secret weapon that has NEVER been spoken about before... until NOW!

Now if you think about this, how in the heck can a "financially broke" individual who has just spent his last cent afford to buy all these drinks in the first place. Secondly, talk about coincidence! You just happen to meet an "internet marketing" GURU! Wow! And finally, how did this poor soul know what questions to even ask? If you've seen this, I honestly hope you didn't buy into this guy's crap. It's just another give me your money and I'll tell you how to get tons of traffic to your web site fraud. It just won't work and you'll be out your money. But remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

So I hope you got my point. You have to be extremely caution when some one tells you they can show you how to make tons of money on the internet. If it were as easy as these guys claim, then we'd all be millionaires and that's just not the case. Unfortunately, I have to say, in the majority of cases that I've seen, it's simply buyer beware! So don't get sucked in, keep your wits about you and remember, if it's too good to be true, it probably is and you should pass it up! So until next time.....

I can't tell how many times I've had people assume that I'm being scammed or not making any money at all when I talk about working at home. Even when I was a medical transcriptionist, many had the illusion that it must be some sort of scam. No one could possibly get paid for any sort of work at home unless it's daycare or something, right?

Anyone who has worked at home successfully knows better than that. Sure, there are scams, but not everything home based is a scam.

It gets worse if you earn money as an affiliate marketer or blogger, or do something else that many people aren't aware of. Telling them what you do may just confuse some people.

How you discuss your work depends on how you want to handle thing with that particular person. Those who are already familiar with your work and understand that it's legitimate can probably discuss your work with you just as you'd discuss someone's outside the home job. The gripes, the delights, that kind of thing.

The hardest to talk to are often those least comfortable with technology. Someone who isn't comfortable with computers isn't going to have as easy a time understanding how you can make money online. It's all too strange to them sometimes.

No iPad appears and now you have to deal with a stolen credit card and hope like heck that you report it before there are charges on it you didn't make.

Social Media:This is a little beauty. On your social media site you are asked to take a quiz to get your free iPad. Part of the deal is you need to enter your mobile or cell phone number which you do of course, being unaware that by doing this it will cost you $10.00 a month and...no iPad.

2. "Help, Help, I've been robbed!" The con-artist portraying the innocent traveller who has been robbed or mugged but now has no money or credit cards. This person will ask you for money with the promise to pay it back. Don't believe that for one second! These con artists often tap into your social media accounts and send emails to your friends pretending to be you.

3. Phoney gift cards.Again, social media sites are targeted by criminals who tempt you with an offer of a high dollar gift card for free. All you have to do is give them your contact details and maybe even credit card details, all for the sole purpose of identity theft.

Maybe you saw this one on Facebook recently. This scam offered a "free $1,000 Best Buy gift card" to the first 20,000 people who signed up for a Best Buy fan page". This was a fake fan page. The victim had to apply for the gift card and some quizzes. Again, all your personal information is gone to the criminals.

4. Special job offers during the holidays. You need extra cash for the holidays so when you get an email with a special job offer which pays really well, of course you want it. What do you do? You give them your personal details like email address, home address, phone number etc. What do you get? Nothing but a stolen identity.

5. Phishing via SMS, now called "Smishing".Just like the email versions, this scam is done by testing to your mobile phone. They pretend to be your bank or similar institution and claim there is something wrong with your account which you need to take care of right away. Just call this number to take care of it. DON'T return the call!

6. Holiday rental scams. Lots of people want to go away over the Christmas break. Here comes an offer of inexpensive rentals and you jump at the chance. These are fake sites and fake holiday rentals. You've been scammed again.

7. The recession offers new opportunities for scammers. Here they take advantage of those least able to deal with it. People who are suffering in the financial crisis with loans and mortgages get approached by these crooks who offer low interest loans to help them out. All it will cost you is a small processing fee. You guessed it...right into the pockets of the scammers.

8. E-cards. Cheap, clever and convenient. Lots of people like to send and receive E-cards, so what's the big deal? The cyber crims put viruses and malware on fake versions of these cards and then sends them out. They may even send them to your friends, pretending that they come from you.

9. Auctions and bogus classifieds.These guys make you offers on things that are too good to be true. In return you give up your credit card details and you get nothing in return but headaches.

10. Scams disguised as charities. Who doesn't have a soft spot in their hearts this time of year and the scammers are fully aware of this. You may begin getting phone calls and emails asking for donations for one cause or another. Especially if there has recently been a disaster. Make a donation to help these unfortunate people and the money goes into the scammers wallets.

11. Screen savers, jingles, etc. designed for the holidays. If you download them, they are often full of viruses and malware.

12. Public WiFi. The holiday season is often the biggest time for travellers who use airports, hotels, trains and buses. Scammers know you will want to check your emails so they will tap into the public wifi. They will do their best to access your personal information by hacking. Whatever you do, refrain from using your credit card or bank from a public wifi. And, if you visit a site where you need to login, be sure to log off when you are done.
