How To Work From Home and Raise Your Family

My Husband and I own a Property and Internet Business which we run from home, we love having a business and being at home because we have more time and flexibility with our children. People often wonder how we manage to raise our three girls of 11, 4, and 1 and run a successful business.

It's not always easy, but with some thought, organising and planning, it's run relatively smoothly and is very rewarding for all the family.

Sometimes trying to complete work when you have young children hanging around being disruptive and always saying that word Mum, just seems to go on forever, don't you think! Well I find that if my children have my full attention for a solid hour or so through different times of the day, they are then happy to toddle off for a little while and amuse themselves.

What works for me

I break my hours up into chunk times; this makes my day very efficient and I manage to get tasks complete. I will give you an example below:

Chunk Times

6.00am - 7.00am Quiet time, mediation and focus time

7.00am - 8.00 am Children's breakfast, and get them organised

8.00am - 10.00am Work time

10.00am - 11.00am Morning tea and playtime with the children

11.00am - 12.00pm Work time

12.00pm - 1.00pm Lunch and play time with the children

1.00pm - 4.00pm Work time

4.00pm - 7.30pm Dinner and time with children

8.30pm - 10.30pm If needed is business time and meeting with hubby

On my website there is the Platinum Mover Sheet, which is very helpful for keeping a balance and prioritising tasks.

Here is an example of a Timetable. You can always print these types of timetables and calendars off from the Template section of the Word program. There are mail organisers that also have calendars attached to them or use the portable Tablets (Ipads etc), theses great to use as you can be take them with you.

I have one day a week that I set up to do all my running around like the groceries, inspect properties, pick up deliveries, meetings etc.

I finish work at 4.00pm as my eldest child arrives home from school at this time, and we have family time from 4.00pm until 7.00pm, once the children have all gone to bed, I head back to the office for a couple of uninterrupted work hours, which gives me a head start for the next day. Keep an eye on the time and set aside some for relaxing, watching television or chatting to your partner.

If you have young babies and toddlers you can also get a lot of work done when they have their naptimes.

Of course there will be times and weeks when this all does not go to plan, eg. unwell children, end of year reporting and other engagements, when this does happen put this routine into a smaller scale, break it down, do the priorities. The main thing is to be flexible and focused on your end goal for each day and then each week.

Work at meetings and schedules for work time with your partner. Sometimes if he does his work load in the morning then he can come home in the afternoon and help with the children while I get my work done.

Fridays are planned days to have off as well as weekends.

Working from home can have it's positive and negatives, and interruptions can sometimes be a challenge to manage, like friends popping in, friends ringing up, then there's your children with their interruptions. This can be very testing of your patience. Be firm with friends, just let them know that at certain times, you are at work, so they can't visit.

Make Your Office Their Office

My Office is at the end of my house, I have created one half as my work area and the other half the children's play room, we have Toys, Books, TV and all kinds of fun stuff for them to play with. I find that when I am working I am also interacting with the children and supervising them at the same time, I set some rules of what they can and can't do, and encourage them to play quietly, obviously children will not have complete silence so, hopefully you can handle a little bit of noise, I also set times where I get the total silence I need for some tasks.

Involve your Children In Your Work

Try to include your children with your work, Let them help you put letters into envelopes, staple documents (just watch they don't staple their fingers), give them an old computer keyboard and phone so they can set up their own little office. You will be surprised as to how much your children will enjoy this, actually it's quiet funny to watch them pretend to be me and talk on the phone.

For Example, my little 20 month old is trying to grab at my mouse and is interrupting me here now, this is important, but I'll be right back.

Everyone is happy again, I gave her some food and milk and now she is sleeping beautifully and I can concentrate on what I was doing and that's writing this article for you. Be flexible, the major key is to balance your work priorities with your family needs.

Be open with your children in what you are doing and why. For older children, this is a lot easier because they understand what you are doing and they understand rules better. Give them some tasks to do to help you. Explain to your children what is needed when you are in meetings or on the telephone. Having a quiet room with a lock is good for these occasions. My 11 year old is already learning how to run her own internet business and has been for a while now, managing her own money. For the younger infants and babies, they do better with routines, you need to set your work around your childs, time frame, eating, sleeping and playing etc.

Keep Your Home and Office Kid Safe

How to child proof your home and office without having to barricade the whole place off.

Get down on your hands and knees to get a child's perspective of your office. Look for sharp corners, drawers that can be pulled out, heavy files or furniture that may fall on your children, outlets and cords that beg to be pulled and poked.

Shield power points with plastic safety plugs or cover them with locking devices that screw into the outlet plate. Put protective foam-rubber strips over sharp edges and corners. Make sure electrical cords don't dangle from your workstation, children might be tempted to tug on them and end up pulling a heavy piece of equipment onto themselves. Be especially careful of cords hanging from vertical blinds or curtains. Bundle them up with a special cord divider (most hardware and baby stores sell them).

Timetables and Priorities

Set your next day the day before
Get organised
Work out what you are doing: Busy Time or Money Time

What is Busy Time? All the tasks that don't actually Make you Money. Think about how much actual time you spend on these tasks and what you can out source to others.

Answering emails
Chatting on the phone
Opening mail
Meeting

What is Money Time? Ask yourself what can I do to Make Money today

Sales and marketing
Face to face with clients
Offer specials and discounts etc to ongoing clients
Copywriting for a product

Set your time table tasks, then put numbers against them from 1 to 10.

1 - Urgent

10 - Not so Important

If you don't complete all your tasks, ask yourself what could I have done better.

Work out what you are doing during the day, are you using your time efficiently? Should you be out sourcing some of your work? Manage your team well so everyone understands your priorities so all tasks can be completed, and everyone is productive.

Get the right attitude ask yourself, What am I thankful for, What am I grateful for, and What do I need to ask for.

Get positive, get some courage, you are in business to Make Money. What is your goal, once you have set your goal, Take Action!

Again, this is where the Platinum Mover Sheet will come in handy. Download it now.

The Main Priority

Just remember that your children are your number one priority, their needs come first before work, you will find that if you ignore your children the situation comes very tense and stressful.

So keep your children happy and safe and get your routine into place.

I hope you find my information helpful, it can be a real struggle sometimes, don't give up because you have the best of both worlds.

I love the flexibility in working at home and having children, it also gives us the flexibility to travel more often.

Are Home Based Businesses Really That Easy?

You live in a fast food and micro wave society. You probably get frustrated when the computer doesn't boot up instantly. Impatience reigns when your goal isn't reached in a week or so. This mindset makes you a prime candidate to enrich someone else's pocket with dreams of easy money.

You've seen the ads... "Work in your pjs." "Have control of your own time." "Make 7 figures from your dining room table in just hours a day." Are these headlines real? Can someone really do all this in a home based business? Sure they can. Just don't expect to do it immediately... except the working in your pjs part. All you have to do is not get dressed, but you do have to work.

The Process May Be Simple but It's Not Easy

Let's say you buy the "how to" for an affiliate home based business that promises riches beyond your imagination. If it is a good program it will give you a formula for implementing it. Yes, there will be a number of things ready for you to use... a web site, for instance. It may even be a really cool looking site with amazing graphics and a snazzy video. You say to yourself, "Great! I could never do this myself."

If you have a good program, you will find included ways to drive traffic to your web page. This involves work. You have to spend time at the computer doing some writing, going to various sites, even setting up a blog to get people to find your site. You can do all this in your pjs if you want, but if you are going to make even a small amount of money, you need to do the work. As some might say, "Put the pedal to the metal."

Your Time is Your Own

Yes, you can work whenever you want when you have your own home based business. The operative word here is "work." You have to structure your time so that you do actual work on your business. At first, you will need to spend a great number of hours at your computer letting people know that you have a business. It doesn't matter when you spend this time. If you are a night person you can sleep until noon or even 3:00 p.m., but you will need to get yourself going and spend a few concentrated hours each day bringing traffic to your site.

Notice I said "concentrated hours." This means you have to focus. Work in blocks of time with a small, with the emphasis on "small" amount of time for a break. Stay away from time wasters such as email, Facebook, texting and such unless you really don't want to turn the dollar signs in your eyes to dollars in your wallet.

A home based business is doable. Few make it happen because they aren't willing to spend the time and effort needed to make it a reality.

Simple Tricks For Working At Home With Children

Working at home with children is becoming more and more popular in today's world. Both mothers and fathers try to either gain extra income by working at home or find new and interesting work where they can schedule their own hours or receive fabulous tax breaks.

A typical work at home job can have its pitfalls however, especially when trying to tackle at home work assignments with noisy distractions in the background. These work disturbances can make working at home a challenge.

The following are a few tricks and tips to make your work at home jobs more productive.

1. Try to pass on some of the daily tasks to other household members such as your hubby or older children. Explain and coach them on how to do simple chores that need to be done on a daily basis. If necessary, set up a day-to-day schedule of duties for each person that is to be responsible. Gather ideas to make their jobs fun and easy to perform. Teach them household tasks like clearing up the kitchen and washing the dishes, cleaning the dirty clothes, taking out the garbage, preparing meals and doing the carpooling.

2. Start your work day before the kids wake up in the morning. By applying this simple plan, you will not only feel more relaxed, but will have much more work time for yourself to engage in moderate at home exercises or to have a few hours to get caught up with work at home assignments. At least one to two hours should be assigned for you every single day, even if it needs to be before the children wake up.

3. Get organized and learn to prepare daily schedules. Plan your work at home day the night before. This way you will have that precious time to yourself without any distractions and will be able to accomplish your work at home things to do faster without having to waste time thinking of what needs to be done. Begin by making a list of all the tasks that need to be performed that day, then either with numbers or letters, assign which work at home jobs are most necessary to do in order of priority. Once you complete these tasks, you can place a check mark beside them. You will quickly see that this method works fabulously.

4. Always give attention to your kids as soon as they wake up in the morning. If you can, prepare them a spectacular breakfast with all of their favorite foods. Also, give them lots of extra hugs and kisses. Children tend to sometime feel left out when they observe their parents working at home. This does not need to be the case. Make sure to make time for your children every single day as these memories will last forever. Also, your children will be more cooperative throughout the whole day when they feel loved.

5. Prepare a daily schedule of routine events for your children. By having a daily plan, your children will feel as though everything is still normal as it was before you began your work at home jobs. When the events of the day go about smoothly usually on time or close to the usual routine, the day flows easily with less snags and distractions when attempting to perform your work at home assignments.

6. If money permits, employ an assistant to do household chores or to watch the children for a few hours at least a few times per week. This will give you extra me time or allow you to put in a few hours of quiet work time to get caught up on things. You can also you this time to relax and unwind after a stressful day. Don't forget however, to spend always some quality time with your children every day.

7. Don't be afraid to rearrange your schedule once in a while. Allow for flexibility. If things are becoming too noisy inside of the house, take the games outside for a while. The fresh air and exercise will do both you and the children good. Even a short walk around the block is fun. Take the dog for a fast run. Grab a quick coffee at your favorite neighbor's house. Clear your mind and you will come back more energized, ready for your next work at home job.

Apply these tips for working at home with children for a more productive work at home day.

No Time To Start A Home Business?

This article may seem bold. If you are one who always uses the 'I don't have the time' excuse, this article is written for you. Well, if you feel satisfied applying this excuse (and sitting in the rut) maybe you should move on to the next article - you'll make your mind up as you read...

As a work at home mum (with 2 pre-school aged children) and online business owner, I understand the meaning of being 'busy'. I understand the challenges of juggling my work, my family, my health and fitness, my finances, my friends, my home, my personal aspirations and my lifestyle.

I talk to many people each day in my online business. Individuals who hold strong desires for having financial independence and more freedom in their life. Individuals who state that they want to spend more time with their family, to travel more, to work for themselves, to be challenged and rewarded, to donate more to charities, to be passionate about their work, to pursue their biggest ambitions. But they 'haven't got the time' to actually do something about it.

Well, it's a catch 22. Can't change one thing before the other thing happens. But if you don't change anything, what happens?

Nothing!

Every day has only 24 hours. You most likely are sleeping from 6 to 8 hours. It needs to be done. Nobody will GIVE YOU more time. This is the time that is available, and the only thing you can do is TAKE IT and split it up well! And indeed, it calls for meticulous allocations to your priorities.

Do you watch TV? Do you sleep on your public transport commute? Do you have really long showers? Do you take long lunches, and the only thing you do in this time is eat? Do you like to sleep late whenever you can? Do you drive for hours listening to the radio? Do you wander around aimlessly on the internet? What I am asking you is: would you be able to allocate your time more wisely to more productive things, and to take action on the things that will allow you to accomplish your most fulfilling goals?

What you need to start (or develop) an online business and achieve financial independence and freedom is NOT more time. What you must have, is a strong commitment... and a better allocation of your time.

So here are many reasons to consider that might help you uncover why you FEEL you have no time (to set up your own online business, or do anything you truly desire to do!). And remember, it is mostly a FEELING, not a FACT. Those reasons may not be what you expect!

- Your desire is not strong or meaningful enough.
- You are not clear on the goals you have set and the actions needed to accomplish them.
- Your time allocation is poor and you are confusing urgent vs. important things.
- You let others determine your priorities and allocate your time for you.
- You procrastinate (and the question is, WHY do you procrastinate?).
- You are spending valuable time on activities that are counterproductive (this includes oversleeping and watching TV).
- You are not using opportunities to multi-task and create more time.
- You don't follow a productive schedule and are disorganized.
- You don't have the energy that is needed for productivity and mental focus.
- You are dismissing your health and personal growth.
- You are feeling overwhelmed and are not capable of taking back control (sounds heavy, I know...).
- You lack commitment and haven't made a decision to achieve your goals.
- You feel uninspired or are not harnessing your own motivation.
- You are not developing the unique skill-set and mindset required for genuine change.
- You under-utilize the support and resources that are available to you.
- You require more time to activate on your aspirations...ha ha, just kidding! That one is just an excuse - you cannot apply this one!

So should you want to set up an online business or create positive and significant changes in your life, but establish that you 'don't have the time', revisit this list! Are you clear on your goals? Do you really want it? Have you identified a plan of action for realizing your goals? Why aren't you taking action, right now?

Mentoring Is The Key to Internet Marketing Success

Hi there and I trust your Internet marketing activity is progressing well. My week has been fraught with the day job but I've managed to put in a worthwhile amount of effort into our online and Internet marketing activity. I've got what I hope is really useful point to share with you.

However the week did not start well, on Sunday I'd got a bit frustrated that although I had been doing all the usual and necessary marketing activity, blog posting regularly, submitting articles, etc I wasn't happy with the traffic to my blog - and I know what I'm like, if I get frustrated, I then get fed up and then I stop and devote time to my property portfolio or something else. I guess many of you reading this will have experienced exactly what I'm talking about, may even be there right now.

THIS is My 'Make It' year

But because I've absolutely decided this is the year for us making it online - I can't just stop. So there are some guys here in the UK who are real internet marketing professionals who I know, so I fired off an email - identified what I've done (in detail) and asked for some frank and constructive feedback even down to are my posts rubbish,? That kind of thing. So 24 hours past, nothing (well they are busy people!!!) but then soon after I get a response & I've pulled out some of the relevant comments below:

Thanks for the note... here are my thoughts.

Had a look at your blog and you've been doing a great job on your posting. I think you're probably being a bit eager on the results front at this moment.

Also don't forget the false indicators of success and the highs & lows that you'll experience while building your business.

What you've done so far is excellent... keep this up and all will come good.

Hope this helps and keep the faith it will happen.

We all Need Help

Wow, how do you think I felt after that! I was buzzing and it's that which has given me the energy to really forge ahead this week. My point here is I'm lucky that I've found a couple of mentors to really hold my hand when I need it & we all do from time to time. Now these guys are really successful, making real money so for me when they comment good, bad or indifferent - I listen. So the points they made were just the 'pep talk' I needed.

Get a 'Life qualified' Mentor

Moral is get your self a mentor who 'knows'. But make sure you get one who 'is doing it, making money' online not just theorising about it. I don't even really like the term mentor I prefer 'Helping Hand' but it doesn't have the same ring to it.

Search the forums you'll find many recommendations and also you can check out your shortlist of potential mentors through forum posts to ensure you get the 'real deal'.

I really believe this is possibly one of the most vital assets you can spend money on. because for us it makes the difference of getting hacked off and walking away for months, to then return and re-start & re-learn, time wasted. And that's why although we've been online for several years we've not 'made it'. This year will & is different and I tell you my mindset is totally different this time as well, helped by having experts to turn to in my hour of need.

How Secure Is Your Job? What Would You Do If It, Along With All the Benefits, Was Gone in 30 Days?

It happened to me and it came out of the blue. On December 1, 2001, my supervisor took me out to a late lunch along with another supervisor. It did seem a bit odd that both supervisors were coming along, but I really did not think much about it - - UNTIL we got to the restaurant and sat down.

My immediate supervisor looked across the table at me and said, "You are laid off as of today and your pay and benefits will stop on December 31st. Please deliver all company files and property to the local office in Vancouver within the next 24 hours".

This event was totally unexpected. My sales numbers were good, in fact, they were very good. I had actually set some recent sales records within the company that had not previously been achieved by anyone.

Why did this happen? Well, as you know, in the corporate world people are numbers and stats on a computer printout in some office somewhere. When corporate decides to downsize because of a stressed economy there is no human consideration given. Our country had just experienced "911" and there was a lot of panic going on at the time. The particular company I worked for depended heavily upon the manufacturing sector primarily in the States of Washington & Oregon. Many of these companies had themselves begun to downsize and, as a result, were gradually becoming less and less dependent upon the services of the company I was working for. It was a classic example of the "domino effect".

My first reaction was a total lack of feeling -- as if what had just happened was not for real. As I made the 100 mile drive toward home that evening it began to hit me that I was unemployed. It also began to hit me that I was in my late 50's and the prospects for finding another job as good as the one I had just lost were slim and probably next to none.

Thank God over the previous few years, since 1996, I had been playing around on the internet to try to learn how to make money with my computer. There were some successes, but there were also even more times in which I spent more money than I made. I went on to a couple of other sales jobs up until December, 2007, none of which compared with the job I had lost. As of December, 2007, I was laid off again and knew, this time around, I had no further desire to go back into the corporate work force.

It was at this juncture that I applied what I had learned about the internet and began making a full-time living from my own internet businesses. Currently I am earning more money than at any time in my life WITHOUT leaving home using nothing but my computer and my telephone. I am also teaching others to do the same.

If you have recently lost a job or have faced up to the possibility that this could happen to you, please feel free to contact me about what I am currently doing. I would be happy to share with you how you do NOT have to be totally dependent upon an employer or working for someone else. You can have your own home-based business and make money working from your own home. You can be your own boss.

You may contact me, Larry Owen, at 541-752-6291 between the hours of 9am - 9pm Pacific Time, Mon. - Sat.

The Power Of Subtle Psychology To Get That Sale, To Be A Success, To Change Your Life

Have you ever been talked into doing something you afterward regretted? Have you ever stopped part way through a favor and thought - "Why am I doing this?" Chances are someone has used one of the techniques explained below. They work at a subtle level and that's what makes them so powerful.

Discovering these strategies distinguishing them, and stopping yourself before it's too late takes knowledge.

One method is applied by Telemarketers to get you to listen to them. Here is a subtle psychological method named foot in the door. You get a phone call from a telemarketer. Normally they'd try to impress you with a grand sales line when you answer, but this time was different to others.

The second you answer, he tells you that he is only doing a quick phone survey and that it will only last for 30 seconds. There is no personal data being gathered. All in all safe and anonymous and he isn't attempting to sell you anything. You say 30 seconds didn't seem like such a long time, so ok.

That is the beginning of the trap. He begins with small talk, nothing for your to worry about and general questions which seem like nothing. What is your age group? What is your business? Where do you go for vacations? These enquiries aren't intrusive, so you reply. Shortly he's moved on to some very personal questions. Halfway through the survey, he assures you there's only "one last question". At the end of the interview, he thanks you and hangs up. The survey takes 5 minutes, and the information he has achieved is very personal.

The phone rings again to follow up a couple of days later and calls you by name. She seems to be a friend. You believe it's somebody you can't quite recall who it is.

She then reminds you of the first call, and congratulates explaining that you among the lucky ten people to have qualified for a limited gift. You just have to attend a seminar which is in all likelihood is a long, sales pitch where someone will try and force you to buy something.

It 's then you realize you've been caught hook line and sinker you have fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the book, the social hucksters practice!

This method is known professionally as the "foot in the door strategy".

There are many subtle psychological techniques and you may not recognize when there are being used on you. You may want to know how to use them to your own advantage, for your business, for your personal success. Learning about these methods could save you lots of headaches, time and bring you success, but the first step is knowledge.

Find out more about these amazing methods and techniques and transform your life. http://www.angelicayoungrecommends.net

It's all about mindset, reading the other person and knowing what they are thinking even without them knowing it. Use the power of subtle psychology and achieve things you never dreamed of achieving before.

Different Jobs Dads Can Do From Home

Are you spending a lot of time at home? Would you like to be turning that time into money? You know you could be fixing things around the house but I am sure this would not be increasing your bank account. It may go a long way to building good will with your spouse but not get you very far with your bill collectors.
I am sure if you could cut back on watching Sports Center, I am not talking about the "Live" games (that would be crazy talk) just the amount of time on the rehashing of the games. You could find the time to earn money in your spare time.
I am talking about "on line jobs from home"! Something you could do any time of the day or night, whenever you could find the time. Let's think about the possibilities, say you are a sports nut, you could start an eBay store and sell sports paraphernalia. You could start a Sports Blog, create a following and sell advertizing space on your pages. I know this sounds like it could be rather complicated.
Please do not be afraid of the internet, you need to embrace it. You may need to start with just data entry work on line, this will get your feet wet, open your eyes to a new way to communicate with the world.
In order to create a job on line you will need to provide a service or a product (either your own product or you may sell another person's product). You need to learn how to market your service or product, get it in front of as many people as you can. Think of it this way, you are in the Mall in a Football uniform, in front of the Sporting Goods store and you are telling people to go inside the store and buy from this store and the store will pay you for each person that buys from them. Sounds Simple!
It really is that simple. The problem is, this will not work if you are standing in a field in the uniform and no one is around to hear you, or standing on a busy street corner trying to get your message across to people who are just not interested. If you are not out in front of the people who are looking to buy your service or product you will not succeed.
So Dads, what I am recommending at this time would be to dabble in the internet and learn how to market and sell other peoples product before I would offer any products or services of my own, this way you can earn and learn at the same time. Your investment is minimal and you can find out if this would be something you enjoy doing in your spare time.
If you were looking for specifics on different jobs Dads can do from home then I feel you will be disappointed, that would be like showing you the ocean and only offering you a glass. Explore all of your passions and the possibilities are endless. Just remember you should learn how to swim before you jump in the water.

Adjusting to a Work at Home Business After Working in the Corporate World

Adjusting to a work at home business after working in the corporate world may sometimes be difficult. In your corporate job you may have been accustomed to set hours of operation. These hours more than likely were twelve to fourteen hours long and with shifts during all hours of the day. Most of these jobs will require some travel abroad keeping you away from your family.

You will now set your own work schedule allowing you to be flexible with your day. This time leverage will enable you to spend the time with your family that everyone desires. When you finally got home from your corporate job you had to do the typical family chores of laundry, cooking or cleaning. That is if you felt like it. One of the biggest adjustments you will have to make is colleague interaction. You may have gotten use to all the people at the office. Or maybe you are one of those that did not like all the people. Either way you will not have to put up with that anymore. As long as you choose the right rel=nofollow work at home opportunity that works for you, you will never really be alone. There is just no way around that.

For some individuals, major adjustments will have to be made but for most, these adjustments are for the better. Better quality of life, more family time and downright happiness.
