How To Stay Focused As You Work From Home!

What about that clock, you know, the one in the middle of the floor close to the ceiling with the big black numbers staring you in the face, telling you how long you had already been there and how much longer you had to go? What about those rules and regulations you had to deal with, that made your stomach ache? You can't do this, and you can't do that, not to mention special parking for so called special personnel? Well guess what? You now become all of those things when you decide to become self employed. I know working for yourself comes with a great deal of freedom you can't fully explain. why, because you get to pick your own hours, you get to be your own boss, a tough one or someone that's laid back, it's solely up to you. You get to take on all the responsibilities of being in control of how you bring home the bacon. What I will tell you is this, you MUST enforce, stick to, and abide by the schedule that you set for yourself. You MUST hold yourself and others around you accountable to your schedule and your work performance. I kid you not, for some reason when family and/or friends hear that you are working from the house they tend to believe that you're doing absolutely nothing; or they think all you do is talk on the phone all day or watch television. In their minds you are "unemployed" so this is why you MUST hold yourself and others accountable.

Lets say you have a great deal of secretarial skills and you decide to become a virtual assistant, well then you must understand that your employer will expect certain things from you, like finishing the task given to you on time, being on important office meeting calls, and checking in with the virtual manager who is assigned to you for your weekly assignments. So what am I saying is "you must have the mind set, discipline and skills needed" to be your own boss. Some people think that even with the skills and discipline they can succeed as a home base business owner, however there is what's known as the waiting period. The waiting period happens when you've done all the leg work getting your business up and running, collecting expenses along the way and still making no money. This is when you know that you absolutely have what it takes to be a business owner because it may take days, weeks, months, even years to rep some reward from all your efforts. So again do you have what it takes to stay focused while working your business from the house?

7 More Tips If You Want to Make Money at Home Online

The reaction to my article yesterday on 7 Tips if You Want to Make Money at Home Online has been great! It obviously touched a nerve and prompted a great response from readers who have come back with their own tips. So, thank you and I promised I would share these, so here they are!

Set regular hours: Be disciplined about the number of hours you will work every day and be very clear about your start and end time. Don't get into the habit of starting and finishing "when the mood takes you" A sure-fire way to end up getting nothing done and feeling frustrated.

Close your door: When working from home, having an "open door" policy that is much vaunted in the office workplace simply does not work. You need to close your door to separate you from the rest of the house, which is clearly not a workplace.

Set down rules for others: Just because you work from home does not make you available on a permanent basis, either to your children or your partner. You need to set down rules and boundaries for the others who share your home as to when they can and cannot interrupt you. Unless you do this you will be driven to distraction and your ability to focus on a particular piece of work will be impossible.

Keep work area tidy: This came in from quite a lot of people who make their money at home online, or even offline, and I do go along with it. An untidy workspace leads to untidy work. You know that sounds like something my poor old mother used to say and I would roll my eyes up to heaven when she said it, but it is true. Have a clear workspace and file everything away where it should be. One thing I do really agree with is that your desk is the worst filing space you have!

Keep going even if it's tough: You will have the days when you just don't feel like it. You are just not in the mood, and you just cannot seem to get any good ideas. Do not goof off and justify it by declaring that your creative juices are just not flowing today! The old saying "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" has to kick in here. Even if you feel completely empty, stick to your routine. Running away from any problem never solved anything, so be resilient.

Keep an ideas notebook: I think this is a great one! Keep a notebook handy at all times where you can jot down some ideas or thoughts that pop into your head. If you don't write them down, the chances are you will forget them and that is an awful waste of an idea! Sometimes your best ideas just come in flashes when you are doing something completely different. Do not lose those ideas, but you will if you have not got somewhere to capture it. Great idea from one of my readers!

Allocate routine tasks to specific days: This is a really good discipline, and, being honest, it has come from a reader, not me! The suggestion is that we have routine tasks - like doing our accounts, measuring our key statistics, filing away stuff, and other things that we must do on a weekly basis. Set out a particular day in the week when these are done and be diligent about it. I think this is a good idea and a Friday afternoon seems like a good time for me to do these things. The advantage is that I can then start my weekend knowing that those routine tasks have been dealt with for this week.

Thanks to all of you for your response and keep them coming. As you send me more little nuggets that help all of us that want to make money at home online, I will share them with everyone. The challenge now is not just to nod your head in agreement at some or all of them but to decide which ones you are going to take as your own and improve your performance.

How to Talk to Your Spouse About Wanting to Start Your Own Business

The past few years have been financially tough for many couples. Lay-offs, down sizing, lowered wages, hiring freezes, raise freezes and the overall downturn in the economy have all been tough, to say the least. Many people have used the economic downturn to reassess where they are in their careers and to look at where they want to be in their futures. For some, the answer has been to go into business for themselves.

As you can imagine, talking with your spouse about wanting to start your own business in this economy may not be the easiest of conversations. For those of you who are considering this option and are wary about how your partner will hear your idea, be smart about how you share it. Below are several tips on how to increase the odds that such a conversation will go well:

1. Think before you speak. Do not approach your partner with a jaw-dropping statement such as, "Honey, you know I'm tired of working for someone else. I'm sure I can do better than Joe Shmow and I'm going to take the leap and start my own business!" Instead of dropping a bomb, be planful and think about your message before you speak it. If you're in the mulling-it-over stage, tell your partner that you're just playing with options and working for yourself is one of them. If you're seriously thinking of starting a business, let them know that and be clear that you would like them to be open to the idea and be willing to participate in this discussion with an open mind.

2. Know your audience. If your partner is open to new ideas, taking risks and you have a good relationship, have them join you in the brainstorming of pros and cons. If your partner tends to be worried about risks, then it's in your best interest to have more information before you present this idea to them. If your partner is a planner and has a critical eye, then you may want to have a fairly detailed proposal to present. Don't try to fight against the type of partner you have-instead, go with it and use their personality as a map to guide you in your approach with them.

3. Answer their concerns before they voice them. This point goes along with knowing your audience. Will your partner be worried about the financial risk, your follow through, the market, your business concept, your work ethic, your ability to balance work and home life or (fill in the blank)? Imagine what your partner's argument will be and provide a solution before they even raise it (and be honest!). For example, if they'll be afraid of the finances, have a plan laid out for the maximum financial risk you will take, a safety net in place if it takes longer to take off than you expected and a plan to save enough money to be able to start this business responsibly. Have a realistic assessment of what the start-up costs will be and the expected revenue coming in (hint: it is better to under-promise and over-deliver than it is to under-deliver and over-promise). Keep your estimates real!

4. Be planful and smart. Have a plan. How will you make it work? How much money must you bring in to pay the bills? How will you build the business? How will you market it? Who's your target audience? The details are endless. If you're serious you will need to have a plan. Gather the resources you need, network and be smart about how you carry this idea to fruition.

Creating your own business is hard work. Don't go into this venture with rose-colored glasses and have grandiose ideas, just hoping that you'll make it work. If you think like this, your partner should be scared. Working for yourself can be an amazing journey that's filled with freedom, joy and many struggles along the way. Listen to your partner's concerns, honor their voice and partner with one another on this decision. Do not move in power-move in partnership.

Challenge: If you want to start a business, know this is stressful to even the most easy going of partners. Respect their anxiety and use it as a map to create a great business plan. Good luck and enjoy the journey!

Dominate Your Market Through Intelligent Keyword Bidding

If you are having problems keeping your online business afloat, perhaps it's time you reexamine your keyword bidding strategy and see if there's anything there that needs tweaking. Just a bit of careful analysis would reveal why so many Internet marketers today are in trouble. They have to face the problem of rising costs of getting their most prized keywords listed on search engine results. That's tough especially if you're on a tight budget. Studies show that despite all these expenditure there's hardly any noticeable improvement in search query results. Because expenditure exceeds query volume many advertisers find themselves sinking deeper and deeper into the pit of oblivion.

But don't despair; there is a way out of this difficult situation. You're going to have to start creating a smart keyword bidding plan.

Determine the true value of your keyword. Many online marketers fail to see the real worth of their keywords because they have the wrong criteria for judging them. Many of them don't even bother to look what lies beyond immediate conversion. The thing is a lot if not most conversions occur well after the customers' initial click. According to a study, only 25 percent of searches resulted in the purchase of an item directly related to the search term entered. Of this percentage, more than half of them converted offline. The others who converted online may have done so from a different computer or at a later date. A number of them will even order by phone.

You see how much you're missing when you limit yourself to direct conversion? Lagged or delayed conversions need to be seriously taken into account and credited back to the original keyword. Then and only then you'll be able to appreciate the keyword's real worth.

To keep track of offline conversions, you can check how often site visitors clicked on your store locator utility. You might also want to offer visitors special offers, enticing them to click on buttons that correspond to various keywords as well as search engines. Make use of all these methods to get a more accurate view of how your keywords are really doing.

Use a phone tracking system to keep track of phone orders. Make sure each phone number is assigned to a different keyword. Also don't forget to check how often visitors go to your contact page. These two data sets should give you a reliable estimate of your offline conversions and help you with your rel=nofollow [http://keywordbidding.org/keywordselection/]Keyword Selection.

Always manage keywords by conversion. Never manage them by clicks or position. Clicks cost money and don't by themselves make money. This isn't what keyword bidding strategy is all about. If you manage keywords by position, there are two problems here. Clicks don't always convert and those clicks would be mighty expensive. Then there's the compulsive clicker - the trigger happy Internet user who clicks on just about any link or button he sees just for the fun of it. You don't want to victim to this type of user and pay a huge sum of money for clicks that didn't result in conversion.

Remember, it's conversion that makes you money, not position or the number of clicks you're getting. If you follow this strategy carefully you will one day find out that you have not only gotten yourself out of financial trouble but dominated your particular market or niche as well.

Work At Home Moms Helping Other Moms

We work at home moms need to stick together, especially during tough times like these. There are many work at home sites that can help and also we can use their resources and contacts to even help a friend land a job.

For example, I recently became re-acquainted with an old high school acquaintance who lost her job and was in dire circumstances. She is a single mom of a two year old, had $5.00 in her bank account and was actually looking into checking into a homeless shelter because she literally could not find work.

Unfortunately, I'm sure situations like this are far too common but there are things you can do to help your friends who are struggling.

Use your contacts and network to help other moms find work at home if possible. Reach out to others in different industries and just ask if they have work at their office or know anyone who needs someone to work from home for him. People like to help. I sent an e-mail to a few friends about my old high school acquaintance and within minutes I had responses and great ideas and leads for her.

Another way to help is to assist with resume preparation. There's nothing like a second set of eyes on that resume to give you a fresh perspective and new ideas which will help you stand out in the job pool.

You can also direct friends to the familiar working home websites you know and check up to make sure they successfully find work. If you see someone who is struggling during these tough times, lend your support. One of the best ways to find a job is to use your contacts and network. You never know, the friend you reach out to help may be helping another friend if they need an employee.

Making Money Working From Home: Could You Handle It?

When you come to the hard realization that you need extra money to afford your lifestyle or support your family, you might start thinking about getting an extra part-time job. You may have skills in certain areas, such as bookkeeping, computers, gardening, carpentry that an overworked professional or store owner would be willing to pay you for.

Maybe you could add an extra 12 or 15 hours a week to your regular work schedule? It would have to involve a minimum of extra travel time to keep it feasible.

That is a hard decision to make and just supposing you could find someone to hire you would you be able to hack that schedule? It's tough to switch gears and deliver a decent job to a second boss... it may be tough just putting up with an extra boss!

What if? That's when you start dreaming again... what if you could start building a business of your own, working from home? You have several friends who are talking about making money on the internet, and you could use that 2-3 hours a day you'd put into a part-time job to get started with your business. Yes you could if you weren't needing extra money just to cover your present living expenses!

So, let's put our thinking cap on and analyse this:

Are your financial difficulties temporary? Is it possible for you to change some spending habits so that your need for the part-time job could end? Can you get your spouse or partner involved in this kind of planning... seeing that you are taking positive steps to remedy the situation should encourage some collaboration!

Notice that when you push back and start making some decisions, you're taking charge of your life instead of feeling victimized.

When you feel empowered again, you may realize that being able to take control of your situation and doing what you had to do, gives you some clues about your capacity to work for yourself, because:

When you first start a home business, you must be ready to work longer hours than the regular 9-5. If something needs attention, there is no one else to call on - you have to take care of it and possibly put in the extra hours.

If you're not feeling well, there is no sick leave available and no fellow employee or boss to take up the slack... you're on the line all the time! You will definitely need to forget about getting any days off.

If you were going to start a work from home business while still working a full time job, would you be willing and able to sacrifice some of your leisure time? Can you invest an extra 2-3 hours per day into building your business?

Answers to those questions and many more can be found in this rel=nofollow [http://apprenticemarketergazette.com/links-recommended/]free PDF report about Working For Yourself and on the same page you will find three more reports written by Kevin Riley to help you make a decision about starting your work from home business.

Important Questions to Consider Before You Become a Home Based Business Dad

If you are thinking about being a work from home dad, there are several significant questions you need to ask yourself. Working for you has major challenges and obstacles. It is definitely not an easy thing to do. Don't be fooled by all the hype. The rewards and advantages are bountiful, but there is a price you must be willing to pay. Before you move forward, consider the following questions.

Why do you want to be a work at home dad? Really take some time to answer this question as honestly as you possibly can. Here are some possible answers. You want to spend more time with your beloved family. You may want to take control your financial future. You have a great idea and you want to market it. Whatever your answer may be, it must be such a strong reason that it will be able to sustain you when the going gets tough, and believe me the going is going to get tough.

How supportive will your wife or significant other be, or how supportive will your children be? Will they understand your decision to become an entrepreneur? Will they have a role in your venture? Do they realize how important your goal is to you? Will it be your legacy to your family?

Do you have the financial wherewithal to sustain you and your family until your home business begins to flourish and becomes profitable? Will you have to continue working full or part time, while also building your venture? Do you have to secure a loan as working capital? Do you want to use your savings as a mean of finance?

Are you super determined to succeed? Will you throw in the towel, once you encounter failure after failure? Do you have the intestinal fortitude to bounce back after numerous temporary setbacks? Will frustration and impatience get the best of you? Will you persist without exception? How long will you be excited about new venture?

Will distractions lead you down the path of failure? Will you be able to concentrate your efforts like a laser beam of energy, or be easily and constantly distracted? Are you willing to give up immediate gratification and stay focused on your big picture? Do you have the discipline, not to be distracted and stay focused?

Will you be willing to spend the time and effort that is necessary to nurture and grow your work at home business? Are you very aware of the fact that something for nothing does not exist and never will? How much time will you allow yourself before you succeed? Do you want your home enterprise to be temporary fix or permanent (sustain you and yours for your lifetime)?

In summary, I have stated some thought provoking questions for you to really ponder. There are more, but the ones I've just stated are the most important. I am speaking from experience. Know your why or your reason. Are you determined? Will you get the family support you will definitely need? Will distractions be the cause of your ultimate failure? Do you have the financial wherewithal to sustain you and your family while building your enterprise? Are you willing to spend the time and effort in order to succeed? Maybe now is the time to pursue your dreams or maybe you would want to wait awhile until you are absolutely sure you have what it takes.

5 Ways To Get Your Home Business Up And Running Smoothly

Home businesses are often times very tough to get up and running and the reason is because having something out of your home means you can sleep in, watch T.V., and even stop whenever you want because nobody is telling you what to do. If you find it tough to get started and stay motivated then you need to learn and remember these 5 ways to get your home business up and running smoothly.

Create an office environment - One of the most important parts of running a home based business is the fact that you have your own office environment. If you think you can work from the kitchen table and be the most efficient you are wrong. You need your own personal space to handle all your work.

Eliminate distractions - Having an office means that you have your own place to work and the reason why you need this is so you can eliminate distractions. Most people don't understand how distractions can hurt you but they can and will very much. Just do yourself a favor and eliminate distractions inside the office such as phone usage and internet usage.

Don't quit - One of the biggest things you will have to understand is that once you quit a business your odds of doing another one are considerably lower. Make sure you give it everything you have and that way you won't regret things later on.

Get help - If you don't know how to do something you really need to get some help. Also if you don't have time to do a certain task then hire it out and get help that way. Just whatever you do, never try to do too much and quit because you are overwhelmed.

Have a plan - The first thing that you will need that I decided to leave for the end is having a plan. Most people don't have a plan or method to what they plan on doing and that is why most of them fail miserably. Do yourself a favor and create a simple plan with things such as strategies, techniques, and your market.

The last thing I want to leave you with is that not everyone will be able to get a home business up and running successfully and because of that you should not worry if you find it hard at first. Just know that after the hard part is when you will see all the results of your hard work. If you would like to see what many people are doing from home then click here and see many different rel=nofollow [http://www.dormroomcash.com]ideas to make money from home.

Working From Home - 3 Ways To Stay Motivated

Working from home is something that most of us dreamed of at one point. The reality of working from home is not at all what many people believe it would be. Its tough ans it can be incredibly hard to maintain a balanced life. Having to "go to work" every day at least gives you a structure. You have to be at a certain place at a certain time and for a set amount of hours. Working for yourself has no structure - apart from the structure that you create. Its all on you and unless you are someone who is driven it can be a real challenge.

One of the biggest challenges when you work from home is to stay motivated. With nobody pushing you and no one driving you it can be very tough to stay motivated and to keep going when things get tough.

So, how do you stay motivated? Here are 3 easy tips that is proven to work.

1. Set Goals
By setting yourself compelling goals motivating becomes much easier. Goals will give you something to work towards. It gives you direction and it gives you focus which is really important in getting you through the tough times.

2. Reward Yourself
When you are working from home you can easily get caught up in your small world. You need to find ways to reward yourself for achieving goals. After all, you don't have a boss that will give you a pat on your back. You have to find ways to give yourself a pat on the back as it will encourage you.

3.Find Your "Why"
You need to find a reason to get out of bed every morning. What drives you and why do you do what you do. Keeping this reason at the forefront of your daily work will help you to keep perspective and it will give you that inner drive that we all need when we work alone.

If you have kids then it can be a real distraction and it can often demotivate you to be in your office working while your kids are just around the corner. Its important to set very firm rules in your household on what is acceptable and what not. In the end its a real privilege to have the flexibility but it can work against you unless you have the diligence and the self motivation.
