Don't Just Get Traffic, Get Targeted Traffic

There is so much need to increase web traffic today, much more than there was a few years ago. This is because every day, the online business community is growing and more people are getting into the business. While these people hold traffic as the major success determining factor, and indeed it is important, there is something else one ought to look at. If you would ask the greatly successful online business people, they would tell you that you should not just be interested in traffic but targeted traffic.

If that term is new to you, then let me explain it for your understanding. Targeted web traffic is traffic that you have special interest in and that is also interested in the products that you have. These are visitors of a given website whose potential of becoming actual buyers is very high.

Let us take an example so you can understand better. If someone was just surfing the web, following link after link and finally landed on your website, it is less likely that such a person would buy anything from your website. After all, it was just by accident that they got to your website. But someone who has deliberately entered "laptops for sale" into a search engine and landed on your website is most likely to buy a laptop from your website if the deal is good because that person went online in search of a laptop.Visitors of this second type visitor give us what we call targeted web traffic.

The big question is how do you get targeted traffic? Let us have a look at the methods of traffic generation that are most likely to generate targeted traffic for your website.

1. Search engine optimization

This is one of the superior methods and it has been in use for a really long period of time. It entails much but a key aspect of SEO is that one should use a good keyword and use it right. Has it ever happened to you that the keyword you choose to target can help you have more targeted traffic?

Think of this, you deal with Dell laptops, just like your competitor Mark. Mark optimizes his website such that it has top ranking for "Dell laptops". He is likely to get more traffic but even from people who just want to know more about dell computers, including children. On the other hand, if you optimize your website for "Dell Laptops for sale" most of the visitors that you will be getting will be people interested in buying Dell laptops.

2. Related forums

The internet has many forums and if you are diligent enough, you can find many forums within the niche of your website. The major reason why people join forums is to get as much information as possible about products they intend to buy. If you take part in such forums and provide valuable information, the members are likely to follow you to your website and form swarms of targeted web traffic.

3. Email lists

These lists contain email addresses of people that have subscribed to some of your products. These people take their time to provide their information, including their email addresses, because they have interest in your products. You should therefore put efforts into growing the list to as much as you can and that is sure to bring you huge volumes of targeted web traffic.

Mumpreneurs Make Money From Site Flipping

The internet provides a vast array of new possibilities for those who grab hold of the opportunities that this new technology provides. Site flipping is one opportunity that work from home mums and entrepreneurs have been taking advantage of to secure steady income while developing a home based business.

For the purposes of site flipping, a website is essentially internet 'real estate'. Just like a home renovation, the updating and improvement of a site can increase the value of something that you have.

About Site Flipping

If you've not had a lot to do with the internet beyond surfing your favourites sites, then you may not have heard the term 'site flipping' before. Just like day trading of stocks, or flipping of real estate, site flipping is about taking a website that is not fulfilling it's full potential and turning it into a more profitable, attractive opportunity.

Flipping can be a short-term proposition, or you may keep the site for longer and make more in-depth improvements before selling it on to someone looking for a site that is bringing in a steady stream of income.

Getting Started

To get started, you should find out more about web page rankings and traffic, so that you can analyse a site fully before outlaying any money. Sites are often sold at auctions sites such as flippa.com. As a rule of thumb, you should expect to pay around 10 times the monthly profit of the site. Here are some examples of the indicators you should be looking for to determine if a site is worth purchasing:

Does it have a list (customer base)?
Existing profit = instant cashflow
Property (network and domain) - you might own a niche and want to add to it(i.e. have a lot of sites related to the same niche)
Traffic (size and source): the more targeted and relevant traffic you've got the higher the value of your business
History: has it been getting traffic and profit, how old is the domain?

Once you have a clear picture of the site's potential, you can then develop a solid plan to follow to make improvements and then on-sell or 'flip' the site to realise a profit.

Making a Profit

There are a number of ways to improve the profits a site is generating and turning site flipping into a work from home opportunity. Depending upon the age of the site, the amount of traffic it currently receives and whether or not it has already been monetized with sponsorship or with the use of advertising, these areas are a good place to start.

A relatively new site with great content and a good following can be improved if you are willing to wait things out a while until the site is a little older, at which point in time it may become worth more money. If a site with a solid following, but which could be significantly improved with just a little traffic generation effort is another option.

Finally, you may find that the site already has everything necessary in place, but has never been monetized and is therefore open to improvement and an increase in value by taking that step.

If you're eager to make an online income, mums have found that site flipping is a great opportunity. For those who have not fully explored the possibilities for making money online, this is one area that embraces the ideas of making money wholly within the online environment.

Safety Check

Before making any buying decisions, it is vital that you do your due diligence. You must confirm what you have been told by the seller. Therefore, research the market, the site and the seller. Watch out for 'red flags' such as very 'salesy' copy. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, there is a strong chance it is! Saying that, there are definitely some amazing deals to be found - as long as you know what you are looking for!

Choosing Web Traffic Generation Methods: What You Should Consider

There are so many web traffic generation methods these days that I know most people get a little confused when it comes to choosing which ones they should go for. If you can be able to use every available method of generating traffic, you would be more advantaged. However, this would be a great challenge. That is why you need to give priority to others. But how do you choose the methods that you will give first priority? These are the factors that you should consider.

1. The targeted audience

Every web traffic generation method targets a given audience. These audiences vary in terms of characteristics and size. For example, if you choose to use the more popular search engine optimization technique, you will be targeting everybody who uses these search engines. Now that is a really wide audience since Google, Yahoo, Bing and such like names is what you will hear all over the world whenever one thinks of searching the web. In this respect, if you want to target a wider range of people, from all over the world, search engine optimization should be your number one choice. This is in fact the reason why most website owners prefer investing in SEO as compared to other web traffic generation tactics.

2. How long does it take for results to show?

It will take more time for some methods before you can start ripping from your efforts than it is with others. Take for example social media websites as opposed to SEO. All you need to set up a successful campaign on social media websites is an active account and a good number of friends or followers. If you post an update informing your friends of a new product you think would be very useful to them, the link starts working immediately and you get traffic flowing to your website the moment that post appears. One method that requires a lot of patience is SEO. It is a really daunting task to get top ranking. You will have to perfectly optimize your web content, placing the right keywords at the right places, make sure that you have as many credible links as possible pointing to your website, keep your website content updated all the time and much more. With SEO, You will have to find out that one thing that your competitors have not done enough so that you can surpass their efforts. However, the benefits you rip in the long run are worth the efforts you put into it.

3. How long will the tactic serve you?

Let us consider social media marketing so that we can be able to understand this point well. If you put up a status update meant to direct your friends and followers to a given website, that update will only be visible to them for only a limited period of time before it is overshadowed by others. That means, to continue getting web traffic from the site, you will have to update your status once again. This will most likely be a challenge if you want to use the same social media website to promote the same thing. This is because most of those followers would have viewed the website with the first update. They would therefore be reluctant to click on the link the second time it comes up.

Tips for Online Advertising and Exposure

Website

If you're serious about having an online presence then you're going to need a website. First things first, get your domain name right. Try and pick a domain that is catchy, memorable and more importantly relevant to your product/service. Secondly, get the site right. It's important to invest a lot of thought into your site as it's a virtual representation of your brand. Try and think about what you want the public to see, how do you want to portray yourself?

Original Content

Original content is a biggy when it comes to exposure. No matter what industry you're in, you should always try to be the best resource - give people a reason to keep coming back to your site. This is especially important if you're selling a product that doesn't necessarily require any further interaction after the selling transaction. If you've got the means to make videos, original images or infographics then that's a bonus. Original content if also good for search engines so if you're going to get writing then be aware of your keywords - write about what's relevant to your business or engines like Google will send traffic your way that won't necessarily convert to sales or returning visitors.

Blogging

Blogs are also great for containing original content but the difference is usually that blogs are less formal and more conversational. While your website might be good for posting informative articles, your blog will always be better for stories about your company, any updates you have, PR and even photos from the Christmas do. Again, blogging can be good for traffic via search engines but because of the personal nature of blogs they're usually for those interested your company.

Search Engines

There's that phrase again - search engines. No matter who you are, you'll need to befriend search engines to get your site referenced or you'll be loosing out on a load of customers you didn't even know you had. Submit your URL to Google, Bing and Yahoo (and anywhere else you want) and they'll start matching your site against search terms. You can also maximise sites like StumbleUpon.com and Reddit.com that can be another source of traffic and exposure if used in the right way. Be wary though as sites like that aren't directed at your target audience so, again, your traffic might not help. If you're looking for sales then you might not see any benefits from this kind of thing.

Forums/Knowledge

Going back to the 'best resource' point made earlier, forums is another way prove how much you know about your industry. A lot of people try and use forums for advertising by posting about their latest deals or new products but most of the time, that'll just get you kicked out for spamming. The trick with forums is subtlety. Find a forum related to what you do and give people advice, start conversations and get your name around. Making the most of your signature is important as it will be seen in every comment you post so get your company name and a sentence on what you do in there. Don't over do it though or you'll still probably look spammy! http://www.Serchen.com - Home of the largest online Hosting, Cloud, Server and SaaS directories in the world.

Why You Should Start Using Press Releases to Get Traffic to Your Business

When you mention press releases to many people they think more about news related to businesses announcing products or services or making some sort of announcements, some consider press release as just another form of news article.

Although on one side they can be described as news articles, they mostly feature business news. These are used by businesses to announce the launch of certain products or services in the market. This is one of the methods that have not been fully utilized by internet marketers to promote their products online, the reason being that many do not have the necessary knowledge on how to use them to advertise their online businesses.

One of the most important points to note is that since Google loves new content, press releases can get your site at the top pages of search engines because they are news content and they are quickly indexed by Google. This means many people who are looking for information on your site will be directed there by search engines through these press releases. Before using a release, it should be noted that it needs to be well written to make sure that not only announce an upcoming event or a new product, but also helps you achieve increased increase traffic.

The first thing to do is to use a title that is attractive for your press release. This means that those who first see the title can be tempted to read more about your products or services. The title should also be relevant to the information contained in that press release. Remember before people read about anything, they will first look at the title and if they find that the title is not about whatever they are looking for they will not find any reason to read the rest of the content.

You should also make sure that the keywords you are using are thoroughly researched for them to correspond with what you want to announce to your readers. Do not use keywords that are not relevant to your topic because this will increase the bounce rate in your site.

The keywords should as well make part of the press release title. These keywords are also important because they will be used by search engines to direct web traffic to your website.

The other important point is the body article. It should be equally appealing as the title. Do not write an attractive article and follow the same with meaningless information that will not help in promoting your business. People need to find enough information about the launch of your product or your business and why they should come to buy from you and not from others. Include any important information about the actual launch and put the date of the launch and the place where it will take place. Make sure you make proper use of the resource box because this is where you link your press release to your site.

The last thing to do is to post your release to relevant sites. You can use those sites that are free or if you want to pay for your press release you can opt to paid release distribution. All these sites are accessed by millions of people on daily basis and more web traffic will come to your sites as a result of these press releases.

7 Musts When Starting a Business Online

I was asked this yesterday - what are the "must do" things when starting a business online. It was asked at a seminar I was attending and when someone asked me from the floor during a Q&A session, I really had to answer without giving any prior thought to my response. As happens in those situations, the answer comes directly from the heart. Consequently, I thought I would share my answer with all of you. So, my 7 "Must Dos" are:

Be determined and have great will power. Starting a business online is not a get rich quick scheme, despite what you hear during various product launches, which can be all hype and no substance. There is no such thing as a push button, instant success program or software. Trust me - it does not exist. Making money online is a great industry but you need to have determination and will power to withstand the early humps and bumps and frustration of not seeing the money coming in. Persevere, and it will come!

Use WordPress for your site. It is a great product and easy to use. It is highly flexible and you do not have to be a programmer or any sort of technical genius to work with it. (I can use it, so that proves that point!)

Know your target market. Sounds obvious, but often ignored. Let me take an example to make the point here. You have decided that you are going to target all Harley Davidson owners, and that is great. So, you know your market - right? Well, maybe! You know who they are, but do you know how they like to be communicated with? How often? Do they prefer detailed technical material or exciting news? What style of writing will you have to adapt to really connect with them? So on and so on... you need to know answers to these sort of questions before you can say that you know your market.

Know how you are going to get targeted traffic. Please note that I said "targeted", and that is critical. So what methods of traffic generation do you have to undertake to generate the traffic from the audience that you are targeting. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to driving traffic to your site.

Get a good domain name. Ideally, if you can get one with the keywords in it. However, that is not always possible. But get one that reflects how you want to be perceived by your target market.

Focus on quality content for your site. I cannot overstate the importance of this. Quality content is critical. Content is not, and I repeat NOT just there to load up with keywords for your ranking. In fact doing this is detrimental to your site. Also, you will end up with silly content as you are working around your keywords and not focusing on the content. If you are uncomfortable writing, then hire someone to do it for you. There are plenty available in various places like Elance and ODesk, but, a word of warning, get sight of their work before you commission them to do it for you. There are many there who do not have English as their first language and it can really show. But good ones are there, and it is not expensive.

Have a plan. Anyone who has come across my material before will know how passionate I am about this. This is a business, so treat it as one. Invest the time in making a detailed plan of action, and then stick to it.

So, they are my magnificent 7 "must dos" when starting a business online. Are there others? Yes, but if you do these then you are well on your way!

How to Buy and Sell Websites for Profit

Many people in the world make websites for fun, as a hobby. On the other hand, a huge proportion of websites are designed to make as much money as possible for their creators and owners. The fact that they can be used as instruments for financial gain means that trade in websites has boomed over the last decade. Buying websites that are undervalued can prove highly profitable to those who know which ones to buy. The best ones will provide a large amount of sustained income, as well as often appreciating in value for later sale.

A highly important segment of the website market is that which receives so-called type-in traffic. Despite the advent and development of search engines, it turns out that a large proportion of internet users prefer to type in their desires as a URL. This means that sites such as 'candy.com' or 'dogs.com' can experience incredibly high traffic. These names, as a result, are valued very highly. The fact that users go straight to the sites makes them highly effective advertising spaces which do not have to market themselves specifically, which itself would incur costs in time and money.

Although by this stage most of the obvious and simple single-word names have been taken, many options are still available. For instance, simple typos mean that URLs which are close to real words receive a lot of traffic. Despite the error in navigation, this traffic is just as valuable as any other. Another idea is to monitor the newest trends that are emerging online. Events in the world as well as new, emergent topics are both areas which produce a lot of interest. This interest can be leveraged into type-in traffic if managed correctly. Twitter, with its hashtags, for example, is an incredibly powerful tool for researching what the hottest keyword strings are going to be in the near future.

Less focused systems for choosing which websites to buy can also be used. Bulk-buying systems, assisted by specially-designed software, can make the purchase of extremely large numbers of domain names possible. This software can be capable of pulling together data from a variety of different sources to help with your decisions. For example, it can examine keyword search frequency on Google as well as checking the average ad bid on Yahoo's cost-per-click advertising platform. Despite the fact that this is becoming quite a mature industry and most of the easiest choices are already gone, a modicum of effort can yield strong results.

Another way to get into buying and selling websites is to use what is known as the Marchex model. This requires significantly more capital for start-up costs than the normal domain names above, but can of course yield much higher returns. The general idea is to buy into established names with proven track records, taking the income that goes along with them and expecting future appreciation. With the current boom in online advertising, it seems likely that the values of most domain names will increase over time.

Just now the leader in the industry is releasing the [http://www.etycooncoursereview.com/etycoon-course-review-ryan-moran-leads-the...]etycoon course--review. A complete guide to making a living by buying and selling virtual property. [http://www.etycooncoursereview.com/]etycooon review

The Double V Rule to Creating a Profitable Website

People make money from websites using a variety of different methods. There is a golden rule that you must follow if you are to be successful at generating revenue from your website. I call is the VV rule:

VV stands for value and volume. These are the two fundamental requirements for your website. You can make lots of mistakes but so long as you remember these two core principals you'll be ok! Lets start with Value:

In this context, value means how useful the website is to a surfer. If you provide a site that is unique, features interesting and stimulating content, is user friendly and looks nice then that site is a high value site. This means that the surfer will have an enjoyable experience when they visit your site and are therefore more likely to click through to your affiliate links or your AdSense links.

The second V was volume. You can have a great site with lots of useful content but if nobody knows about it then its completely useless. You need to direct high volumes of traffic to your site. The average conversion rate for an affiliate link is about 1-2%/. So for every 100 visitors that you get to your site approx 1 or 2 of them will actually click through and buy one of the products that you promote or recommend. Lets say the average commission earned on a product is $10 dollars and you want to earn $3000 a month. Working on a 1% conversion rate we can calculate that you need 30,000 visitors a month to make this $3000. That's just over 1000 a day. Quite a bit but certainly not impossible.

There are a variety of different ways you can improve your VV rating. To improve value you could hire a web designer or graphic designer to make a really impressive looking site. You could focus a lot more time on writing blog posts or articles. You could devise clever and interesting ways of presenting information. Increasing traffic volume is a massive subject and there is a lot of information available on the web. Some methods that people use to drive traffic to their site include article submissions, search engine optimisation, commenting on forums, link trading, you tube videos, social media like Facebook and twitter. You should use all these methods and more if your are serious about driving lots and lots of traffic to your site. You need to spread the word out across the web!

Whatever you do, no matter how much of a novice you are, as long as you focus on building the two V's, Value and Volume then you will be creating a solid foundation for success and you should start making some money soon! Check out the link below for some advice from the guru's of affiliate marketing!

Characteristics of a Successful Email Newsletter

Strictly speaking, drafting an email newsletter is not that difficult to do. After all, since the content of an email newsletter relates to issues related to or that affect the business sends it to, the online entrepreneur is effectively competent in creating the content of the newsletter. However, there are certain characteristics that set apart an average newsletter from a successful newsletter i.e. one that ultimately drives up more web traffic and sales. The following are some of the tips that can help the online entrepreneur move their email newsletter from average to effective.

1. Ensure the news letter focuses on the reader and not on you - The goal is to make the email newsletter realistic, practical, relevant and exciting to the reader. The mistakes many email newsletters make is to dedicate too much space to the business i.e. new products, awards won, new hires, promotions, major milestones achieved etc.

Of course, there is no problem talking about your business - after all, one of the key objectives of the newsletter is to market the business. However, the key question is how does the reader benefit from the content of the newsletter? You can talk about developments on the cutting edge of industry research, changes in regulations and tips on a subject that would interest your readers.

2. Consider the competition and web traffic - Here, competition does not refer to your business competitors. Rather, this is eyeball competition - the fight for attention with other emails in the recipient's inbox. Your email newsletter should give readers cause to sift through other emails in their inbox to get to yours. With the pressure for time most people are under, subscribers to the newsletter may not be able to read every single email in their inbox. Avoid this at any cost because it means a loss in your web traffic.

3. Have a table of contents -Some email newsletters do not include a table contents on the pretext that it takes up valuable space. However, a table of contents can be a powerful selling point for the content of the newsletter. This once again goes back to the limited time readers of the newsletter have. Through the table of contents, you can capture the attention of the reader by using thought provoking headlines. A reader may not be interested in the first article but they may want to read the last. Without a table of contents, such a reader may ignore the newsletter altogether.

4. Use multimedia - This is an advantage that electronic media has over print newsletter but that many online entrepreneurs do not make adequate use of. Embedded videos in particular come to mind. Research has consistently shown that incorporating videos in an email newsletter greatly increases responses and click through rates.

5. Have a specific business target in mind - The email newsletter is ultimately a marketing tool. A business must be able to measure the effectiveness of the newsletter in generating sales. There must be a way to establish clicks that originated from the email newsletter, and you should keep track of its effect on your web traffic

How Not-For-Profit Organizations Can Use Online Marketing Tools and Get Traffic

Unlike businesses, not for profit organizations are not driven by profit making but by a cause. But despite this fundamental difference, there are certain processes that are common to both businesses and not for profit organizations. For instance, both types of institutions will have operations departments, a finance unit, and IT department, human resources et cetera. In the same way, internet marketing tools are not the preserve of businesses - not for profit institutions can make use of the web to further their reach and realize their objectives and increase their web traffic.

The following are just some of the ways not for profits can use the web effectively to get more traffic:

Set up a website - This must be the first step. The website should be professional, attractive and present a compelling case for the causes the organization stands for. One must engage a professional web designer that has a proven track record and can provide references from similar websites he or she has built. The website must clearly state the organization's vision and objectives. The website ought to be updated regularly. Any comments by customers or submissions via web form must be responded to promptly.

The website's content must be relevant and informative - When updating the website, be careful not to put up too much information that eventually adds little value to explaining the organization's cause. Superfluous information will unlikely lead to reader interest. On the other hand, too little information will leave readers ill informed and unable to make the decision required. To liven up the site, make use of pictures, videos, podcasts and blogs to facilitate interaction with site visitors. The pictures, names, titles, qualifications and responsibilities of the key persons in the organization must be prominently displayed - this gives a more personal feel to the website.

Have a web form for collecting the email address of persons interested in further information or the organization's newsletter. The regular email newsletter will keep the organization front of mind for each recipient of the email. The email addresses can also be a means of updating recipients of new developments. RSS feed subscription should also be present on the site to allow web traffic to subscribe to news and updates.

Not for profit organizations have different approaches to funding. Some rely solely on large organizations; others rely on funding from individuals while there are those that are open to both individual and institutional donors. A website is a convenient way to obtain donations from individuals and smaller organizations. This can be achieved by allowing donation via credit cards and the major internet payment service providers such as PayPal and 2CheckOut. The advantage of using a website to raise funds is that the site is accessible from anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection.
