Starting an E-scrap Business From Scratch

Many people may not realize it but e-scrap has become a very lucrative business for many all over the world. While it is not a get rich quick type of business, it is a business model that can create a positive cash flow while helping the environment at the same time. In this article we are going to explore how to turn electronic scrap into a business that just about anyone can start and operate with little investment other than time and hard work.

First off you will need to have a place to work. I started my company in a storage shed that was sitting idle behind my house. While it was not huge, it had power and enough room for the electronic items to be stored and dismantled.

This is not something that you would want to do inside your home unless you have a basement. It can be dirty work and it will take up a lot of space at the same time.
Now let's talk about the tools that you will need to get started.

The first thing is plenty of screwdrivers in various sizes. Nearly every computer and other electronic items have different kinds of screws that you will have to remove. I visited my local Wal-Mart and found an 18 piece screwdriver set on sale for $5.00. It works very well. I should have picked up several of them but I then went to my local Harbor Freight store and found another similar set for $5.00. It is good to have several on hand.

A power screwdriver is also a great tool to have around. While you will not be able to take out all of the screws with a power driver, you will be able to take out some of the easier to reach ones and it really speeds up the process.

Good wire cutters are essential. One of my biggest mistakes was going cheap on the wire cutters when we first started and in the end we paid for it. The cheap wire cutters dull quickly and trying to cut through wires with dull cutters is hard on the hands.

A full set of star bit drivers is also essential. This is most often used in disassembling the hard drives that are held together with various sizes of star bits. A decent set will likely run you around $10 and it will be a big time saver.

Finally a set of small pry bars will come in very handy. These are used mostly for printers that are usually a pain to disassemble. Having a pry bar around gives the needed power to pull apart the different printers without wasting a lot of time.

Now that you have the place and the tools you will need to get some electronics to tear down. There are several different ways to approach this so we will review them below. One of the most powerful tools that I have found is a simple form letter that is sent to various companies in my area. I sat down with my wife and created this letter outlining what our company does and how it would benefit the companies that we were contacting. The response is simply amazing.

One piece of advice is to make your service FREE. All you have to do is run down what you do, which is e-cycling and tell them that you will pick up all the items that they have for free. There are some large companies that provide this kind of service but they are charging for the service and making it free is far more attractive.

Business cards are also a great way to get things going. I usually add a business card to the letters that I send out and the companies will then pass the information along to other companies that may need the service.

Cold calling is a great way to drum up some business as well. My wife regularly sits down in her office with a list of companies and just calls and introduces herself to them and tells them about what we do. The response is amazing.

As for the companies you should target it is fairly simple. We started out with computer repair businesses in our area. In our state it is illegal to throw electronics away so the computer repair companies were having to store and in many cases pay to get rid of their junk. Most were more than thrilled to have someone that would come and pick the stuff up. You can also target factories, hospitals, schools and all manner of businesses that use computers and may have some that need to be disposed of. This will get you started and in the next article we are going to start discussing how to make money from the materials that you bring in.

Craig E Weaver is the owner and operator of Wastenot E-cycling LLC.

Discover The Secret to Online Success

Do any of these hit home? Don't fear, I know that is easier said than done. You are not alone and the good news, there is a solution.

How do you choose the right home based business? Discover the secret that will make you successful whether you're working it part time or full time. One that can go with you, even on vacation and will work no matter what part of the world you're in.

First I want to share with you a short story why I got started in a home based business. Like most people I took a huge hit to my 401k during 911. I'm no spring chicken, I was looking at working till I was 80 or dead. Not a bright future. The year after my dad retired he had a major heart attack and almost died.

That's when I decided to start looking for a better way. Now I came from Corporate America with absolutely no business skills, zilch! I struggled to make it my first couple of years, in fact I spent more than I earned, until I discovered the secret.

First you need to understand the difference between home based and brick and mortar. Home based is something you can do out of your home, it could be real estate, insurance, brokerage, an online business, etc... brick and mortar is the lumber yard down the road, think of Wal-Mart, Home Depot, your local grocery store, etc...

Reasons for choosing home based over brick and mortar. No employees with a home based business. Low overhead, you need a computer and a phone. Your home becomes a tax right off along with many other everyday expenses.

How do you choose the right home based business?

First; you must decide on whether you going to sell a product or service. Do you want to sell products or do you want to offer a service?

Second; you must believe in what ever you choose. If you choose a company that sells cookware but you think your stove is for folding laundry on, then probably not much belief there.

Third; whether it is product or service based it must have good value for the price. For instance, if you choose to sell electric (which is a service) and your company is charging one dollar per kilowatt hour, but the going rate is twenty five cents per kilowatt hour, probably not a good value.

Fourth; this is the most important and where most fail in business, including me at first! There has to a system that is unique to you. What I mean by unique to you is do you like to sell? Do you like to have home meetings? Do you like to cold call or bother your friends and family?

Most all companies have a system the problem with the system is; it is the same for everyone. Would you agree with me, that not everyone is the same?

You can make it big in a home based business. To learn the secret to making it big no matter the product, service or compensation plan, go to http://www.bobbiedunn.com

Niche - What Is That and Why Should You Find It

"Find your Niche" is one of the first pieces of advice anyone who is interested in working online will hear. If you are like me, that was a foreign term. Depending on the expert you are listening to, it even has a different pronunciation! Now I could give you the official definition of the word, but I will just use simple terms instead. A really rudimentary definition would be getting focused.

Basically, it is narrowing down a broad share of the market into a much more specific segment. Lets face it, most of us are not ready to be the next Walmart. We won't be offering every product & service to everyone on the planet. Look at it this way. If your lawn maintenance guy tells you he can advise you about investing, how much faith would you put in his recommendations.? If instead he told you what weed and feed product to use, and when to apply it, you would buy with confidence. That is because in your mind, he has established himself as an expert on lawn care, not financial advice.

Finding your niche makes it easier to be the expert.

It is far easier to gain expertise in one topic than in many. In this arena, claiming to be a "jack of all trades" will not be the best choice. For many of us, the word expertise is a stumbling block. We are too modest to claim to be an expert. Well folks, please excuse my bluntness, but get over it.

None of us have lived this long to not learned a thing or two along the way. I totally identify with any of you that feel like you are not an authority on anything. When I first started the process, it was really depressing. I took a class to find out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I had owned my catering company for ten years, yet it was hard for me to say out loud that I was a pretty good baker.

I had to work to overcome that lack of confidence. When I did cinnamon roll sales for non profits, I got rave reviews all the time. I even became known as "the cinnamon roll lady". I had to give myself permission to believe what others said.I developed my class for people who would like to rel=nofollow [http://www.doughraisingmom.com/make-money/join-us]earn money making cinnamon rolls for non profits. I love teaching that class. I know how to teach people who have no experience because I know how it feels to not have a clue.

As you can see, getting the word out about the class is critical, and as a result I had to learn a lot about niches, websites, blogging, SEO, keyword research and so much more.In the beginning I felt so confused. The great news is that as I learned new skills, I found out I love working with the computer and blogging.I want to share what I have learned in the last two years.

I do claim expertise as a baker. But in the process of building this website and digging into blogging and affiliate marketing,I have learned a lot. I sleep in until 4:00am these days, but then I get out of bed, make my coffee, and fire up my computer. I have a blast learning these things.

You know what, I was really excited when one of my mentors said her all time favorite way to make money online is to learn something really well, and then share your knowledge with others. When you do that, you know what it is like to be in the shoes of your target market, and you are really familiar of what others are needing & wanting out of that niche. If you identify with where I started and are stuck questioning your expert status that is great news. Go find a niche you would love to learn about and get busy.

To find out more information about how start identifying great niches, check out my blog about [http://www.doughraisingmom.com/?p=2842]keyword research.

Finding a niche is one of the first steps in starting an online business. Beginners may be confused by the terminology of words like niche, SEO, keyword research and more. In addition, they wonder why it is important. This is a very basic explanation of why you have to determine your niche.

These 50 and Over Jobs Can Create Wealth, Success and Complete Freedom

Now a days the norm for 50 and over jobs seems to be found at the local Home Depot or Walmart as a "greeter". Or, you might get in amongst all the teens at a fast food restaurant or coffee shop. Seniors don't have to settle for this, and they shouldn't. Most people over 50 don't have a comfortable nest egg for retirement, their pension or social security isn't enough so they have to resort to odd jobs and minimum wage just to get by. This is very sad, but there is light at the end of this tunnel, i assure you. Keep reading because i am about to expose you to something that can change your retirement years into what they were meant for - fun, family, travel and comfort.

So let's take a look at jobs for over 50 that are the norm right now across North America shall we:

Home Depot customer greeter or store helper(misc)
Walmart customer greeter or store helper(misc)
Fast food restaurant - general labor, counter help etc..
Coffee shop counter help
Janitors or night cleaners
Most general labor jobs that aren't too physically demanding

Now there is nothing wrong with these jobs, they provide an honest day's pay and they allow one to feel good about themselves. They also provide companionship and cure the "boredom" crisis that a lot of retiree's and seniors have. The problem these jobs have however is they don't solve the financial problem which is "not enough money", pure and simple. These jobs only last for as long as the senior can handle it, than what? Illness, sickness and fatigue will prevent seniors from going to work. No work means no pay which means back to scraping by on a couple hundred bucks a month from your pension. Now, i have a better way to look at 50 and over jobs that can change this scenario for the better. Let's take a look.

Start your own online business
Turn your passion or hobby into a website
Be your own boss, work when you want to
Write about what you know- everybody's an expert on something
Take the knowledge you gained over the years and turn it into a substantial income
You don't need any technical or web design skills whatsoever
Free up your time for what's most important - family, friends, travel etc..

Does this sound more appealing? I hope so because this is how you can retire comfortably. Think about it, you worked at a job or career for 25 - 40 years and your pension or social security isn't enough. So why would working at a dead-end job now make any sense. It doesn't, you need to create an income that will grow with you every year. If you get sick, your business won't suffer. If you want to go on vacation you can because your website can provide a steady income daily, even if your not working - that's the beauty of it. 50 and over jobs is really taking what you've learned through out your lifetime and creating a website or multiple sites from this knowledge.

So now that you know what to do, you need to know how to do it. Trust me when i say that it's not hard and in fact it is a very exciting and fun process. It's so simple a six-year-old could do it, literally. Building a website(s) around your current passions or hobbies is a dream come true some might say. The trick is you have to do it in a way that allows people on the internet to find you and that you provide the information they seek. The company that can do all this and then some is SBI. A well-respected company with thousands of happy clients worldwide. SBI can teach you all you need to know and get you on the road to a happy and successful retirement. [http://50-and-over-jobs.blogspot.com]50 and over jobs should have a new meaning to you now. You should want more than just a dead end job and minimum wage. You should want a business that you can create and control with no limits. These are suppose to be your golden years - live them to your fullest. [http://50-and-over-jobs.blogspot.com]Learn How.

Selling on eBay or Amazon - Or Craigslist?

Out of the top ten sites names on Alexa.com at the moment three of them are named above eBay, Amazon and Craigslist. They all provide a similar service but at the same time they are all very different.

Let us just for a moment look at the things that make them the same and then look at what also makes them different.

Amazon.Buys and Sells their own products and other peoples.

Craigslist.Neither Buys nor Sells products. But let's others use their site free.

eBay. Sells products for other people, it does not buy its own products to sell.

Let us look at each one in a bit more detail, both where they are the same and where they are different.

One place where they are all in same is that they are all purely 'online' traders, none of them operate from stores or franchises but they all use the Internet.

And that is about where the similarity ends.

As might quite rightly be expected the two companies (Amazon and eBay) that both stand to profit from any sales that are made via their web sites do take a certain degree of responsibility should there ever be a problems with any of the transactions.

eBay do their very best but with approximately 7 million new listings being posted every day there is only so much that they can do. But of course having said that the customer must accept a certain degree of responsibility for the trade themselves especially with eBay when dealing with a new Seller. Amazon on the other hand tend to take a slightly different approach but the one big difference is this: if you decide to sell Amazons products then although Amazons reputation is flawless it does put you personally into a different bracket to what you would be on eBay.

On eBay you are simply a member and you can buy and sell and make as much profit as you possibly can.

On Amazon if you are an Affiliate it can be different if you are selling their products, because like Wal-Mart (yes you can be an affiliate for Wal-Mart as well) your usual percentage of the deal will be about 3%. Amazons name is great and so are their products. You can of course just sell products on Amazon a bit like eBay but the process is a bit more complicated (in my opinion) the good bit about Amazon in that respect is that there is not a listing charge so if you don't sell it then it doesn't cost you anything. But the items that you are allowed to sell on Amazon are nowhere near as wide ranging as on eBay (or Craigslist).

Craigslist is rather a dark horse in this trio because although like eBay and Amazon it is in the top ten ranked sites of course not everybody goes onto Craigslist to buy or sell so it is a bit difficult to know why so many people go to the site other the fact that it is a great site.

A personal friend of mine advertised a car for sale on Craigslist last week and by midday he had had 35 people come round to look at it. Craigslist can be a feeding bowl for people looking for items to sell on either eBay or Amazon (mostly eBay)

It certainly does away with people saying 'I don't know what to sell?' the only thing is that you do need to know what you are buying or else you could end up losing money or your latest 'great deal'.

Just mix and match that's the answer,

That's it, Good Hunting,

Hi, Max Greene here, thanks for looking in. I am an eBay instructor trained by eBay, I also teach people how to use Amazon, Craigslist and eBay, hence the nickname ACE, take a look at my site http://www.acetrader.co because this is unique and it may just be what you are looking for, thank you, regards Max.

Making Certificates As a Home-Based Business

Some people love to hang certificates on their walls where everybody can see them. For those who love them and don't have any, you can design and print them on paper from your home computer. Following are six examples of certificates you can make:

Award

Use your scanner and graphics program to combine awards and honors with impressive presentations suitable for framing. Scan the documents and download medal and ribbon images from the Internet.

Haircuts

Talk to barbers and beauty shop owners about offering certificates for a child's first haircut. Giving each child an impressive document suitable for framing creates an incentive for parents to choose that shop or salon over the competition and come back again. Offer a pack of about 20 with the words "My First Haircut" on them. There may be some beauty schools in your area that offer graduates an attractive certificate of completion.

Hotels

As a memento and thank you to their guests, some country inns, hotels, and bed and breakfasts give out a Certificate of Residency, attesting to the fact that the guests spent one night or more at their place. They are rolled up and secured with a ribbon and presented to guests in a small ceremony during dinner on their last night's stay or left on their pillows. You can design these using a photo of the property and your graphics program. To sell this idea, visit local inns, hotels and bed and breakfasts and show samples. You can also send samples by mail to properties outside the area.

Humor

Create humor certificates for sports fanatics, shopping maniacs, people who eat too much, someone with big hair, someone with big feet, and so on.

Pet Birth

Design birth certificates for cats and dogs. Print them out on parchment paper with embossed gold borders and color graphics. There are thousands of pieces of clip art of cats and dogs available online. You can use any word processing program.

Sports

Captains of sports teams sometimes present their team members with a certificate attesting to the day's adventure. You can create specialized certificates for any sport. For entire teams, have a local printer print out a batch of stock certificates on high-quality paper and sell them to your customers in packages of 25 and 50.

Certificates are printed on plain 20 lb. paper unless customers are willing to pay extra for parchment paper.

For a deluxe presentation, have them matted and framed at a local framing ship. Matted certificates always look better than ones without borders.

Affix a gold seal in the corner and design a space for a signature. On the back of every one, stamp your name, address and phone number, so when admirer's see it, they'll know where to get one.

Most certificates are 8.5" x 11", but you can print out any size your computer can handle.

If you want to frame them yourself, you can make your documents either 5" x 7" or 8" x 10". Frames can be purchased at WalMart for $2 each.

If you or someone you know does calligraphy, you can give your documents a more elaborate touch. Calligraphy printed on parchment paper and beautifully framed is the perfect I love you gift.

You can buy stock certificates with fancy borders and use your computer to add the words.

Several graphic programs such as CorelDraw and PrintShop have numerous certificate templates.

Certificates with gold borders on parchment paper are available at any office supply store as are gold seals.

The format and layout of your documents are up to you - the designer. Use your imagination, photographs and lots of clip art.

If you get small orders, you can do the printing yourself on parchment paper with your color printer.

If you get larger orders of more than a dozen or so, you can use a local print shop and add the cost to the customer's order and earn some extra money in the process.

eBay Dropshippers Are Very Happy Now

So why are eBay Dropshippers happy? Well let me share a little secret with you 'most Dropshippers work on trends' hardly rocket science I agree but the whole basis of running a successful online Dropsipping business (or any other type of business) works on that one single principle.

The trends that have just finished are the busiest trends of the year, there are of course two trends that have just finished (Thanksgiving and Christmas) so now there is the usual slow down until the next big trends are upon us, Spring and Summer. And as anyone in any business knows the time to prepare for an upcoming trend is well in advance not at the last minute (if you don't believe me ask Macys or Wal-Mart).

Both Stores and Dropshippers everywhere are getting their Spring and Summer lines of stock in now, shoppers stopped buying the Winter lines and toys etc about two months ago and so now there is the seasonal slowdown before the next trend begins.

The old stock is being moved out now or sold at discounted prices so that room is made for the new seasonal styles and fashions, room is made to attract the spring buyers plus of course the cost price that the store paid for those winter lines is now being retrieved and put to a much more practical use...buying this coming seasons fresh new stock.

So, 'why are eBay Dropship sellers happy?' good question...

Well firstly because Dropshippers never get left with old stock, simply because Dropshippers never carry any stock in the first place
And secondly Dropshippers can change products and suppliers anytime that they want to. So they can be selling toys, presents and clothes for Thanksgiving and Christmas and then as soon as that trend is over start to get ready with the new spring and summer lines plus the usual sunglasses and 'Get in Shape' products ready for the next trend.
For people just starting a Dropshipping business this is a great time to start to get 'familiar' with the dropship business, bearing in mind of course that anytime there is a dip in the market then that is a good time to start to learn about it regardless of whatever business you are considering going into. If you think that October is time enough to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas then trust me...you are going to miss it.

Take a quick lesson from the farmers, just three words: Plough - Sow - Reap.

All products have a high and a low season. You cannot change the seasons but with Dropshipping on eBay you can change the products and the suppliers any time you want to, and without leaving home.
