How to Fight the Winter Blues by Starting Your Own Computer Virus and Spyware Removal Business

Along with the wonderful access to knowledge and all the other great benefits of the internet came some major problems too, one of these is the constant threat from viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware or adware. The threat of getting one or more of these conditions is a guarantee sooner or later by everyone. There are thousands of computers that are infected all of the time and numerous people don't even realize it, until something disastrous happens to them.

There are numerous ways to get your computer to become infected, you may visit a website and the next thing you know, random popup messages start appearing, you click to close one, and two more open, you shut the computer off and reboot it, and as soon as the system is back up running, the popup messages appear again, your system has been infected by spyware or adware. Some of these nasty programs even appear as reputable virus tools, that warn you that your system is infected, they even show a list of infected files, and ask you if you want the program to fix them, clicking yes, actually installs another trojan or more adware, leaving your computer in an even worse mess.

You visit one of the download sites on the internet and see some free software you want, maybe it's a great sounding game or some interesting little application, you download and install the file, and it works and functions properly, and your glad you installed it. Things are going great, two weeks later when you go to turn on your computer, it seems your WINDOWS Operating System will not load properly, what happened? What happened was this, remember that game or little application you downloaded and installed two weeks ago, it actually was a trojan horse. What appeared to be just an innocent and fun game or utility, was actually checking the date by using your computers clock, and two weeks later it launched it's preprogrammed attack, which was to delete crucial system files from your hard drive, preventing your computer from booting properly.

Things like I just described happen every day, to thousands of people around the world, and almost 99% of these viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware or adware can be stopped before they infect your computer, or safely removed before they can cause any serious harm, if a person does four very important things:

1. Make sure your computer is behind an active firewall when you are connected to the internet
2. Have a Virus Scanner that monitors email and internet activity in real time
3. Have an adware or spyware tool
4. Keep all virus and spyware tools as current as possible, by checking them for updates daily (many users install an antivirus program but fail to update them regularly, this makes them worthless against new viruses, because new viruses are created every day).

If you have been using computers for a long time, and consider yourself very good or more skilled then most users, at keeping them free from viruses and spyware, why not use your skills to earn some extra money. There are computer sales and service centers in almost every town or city across the country, and many of the computers that are taken in for repairs are simply for the removal of viruses, trojans, worms or spyware. Depending upon where you go, and the damages the virus as done, some of the fees for virus removal can cost over a hundred dollars. Maybe you can do the same service from a room in your home or apartment, in your spare time, wouldn't you like to earn $50 or even $100 for removing a virus, updating the software, and on a few rare cases, reinstalling the WINDOWS operating system.

I never took a computer repair course in my life, but I have removed and installed sound cards, video cards, internal modems and even formatted, and partitioned hard drives, and reinstalled the WINDOWS operating system numerous times over the years. I got so good at computer repairs that folks at work started bringing in their systems for me to take home and fix for them, then they paid me when I had the job finished. I thought it was great getting some extra money for a hobby I enjoyed, and you can do the same thing during the long cold months of winter. So, this winter and every winter season, don't worry about being stuck inside with nothing to do, tell your friends and family to pass the word, that you are taking new clients for your computer virus and spyware removal business, it's not only great to make some extra money, it's also a great way to keep busy, and to help fight the winter blues.

How to Make Money in the Winter

In the summertime, there are lots of odd jobs you can do outdoors. You can mow lawns, wash cars, weed gardens, build decks, etc. In the fall, you have to do fall cleanup raking leaves and getting ready for the winter. The winter is a little different as you don't have the same opportunities. Here are a few ideas you can try.

First, there is the most obvious, shoveling snow. Whenever there is a snow storm, there is an opportunity for you to make a little extra cash. You can start small and go around the neighborhoods shoveling, or you can make it more of a business. Get all the tools of the trade: snow blower, shovels, salt, ice scraper, etc. Before the winter starts, make a deal with clients that you will take care of their driveway and walkway for them during storms.

Unfortunately with this idea, it doesn't snow all the time. Some winters are packed with storms, others are scarce. You might not even live in an area where it snows a lot. In this case, you can try other indoor ideas. One great idea is to sell things on eBay. You can sell your unwanted possessions. A yard sale would probably need a somewhat warm day, but it doesn't matter what the weather is like when you just need your computer and the post office. Don't just sell your own things, sell other people's stuff to make even more money. Just take a commission from what you sell.

How to Fight the Winter Blues by Raising and Breeding Crickets

The snowy days of winter, what does it mean for you? To most folks winter means a time of slippery sidewalks, nasty roads, flu season, and something that can be much worse for others, the Winter Blues. The winter blues does not generally happen to someone who is busy all day with things to do in the winter, because they keep active and energetic, as night time approaches, they relax and go to sleep. Now, since you have enough extra time on your hands in the winter, that it causes you to get the winter blues, lets discover a great little hobby that can help fight against it, raising and breeding crickets.

Why would anyone want to raise and breed crickets? Because there is a good demand for crickets for numerous purposes. Many fishermen use crickets as one of their favorite live baits for bass, bluegill, crappie and numerous other species of fish. Also numerous pet owners feed their reptiles and amphibians a large amount of live crickets, and there are pet stores, who will always be needing a good supplier of live crickets for their customers.

You will need a home to raise and breed your crickets in, an aquarium with a screen type lid will work fine, the larger the aquarium the better, aquariums are also one of the safest containers to use for crickets. Some people use the large plastic tubs or containers with lids, from discount stores, the large containers or bins are often quite cheap to purchase, compared to an aquarium, but they are more dangerous to use. The danger is because crickets need to be kept warm, and a nice temperature to keep them at is around 77 degrees, it does not have to be exactly 77 degrees, they can go up to 81 or down as low as 74, but they seem to breed and live the best when they are kept around 77 degrees.

There are different kinds of heating items available from pet stores, you can get heating pads for reptiles and snakes that are made to be placed under the aquariums or tanks, these are often called U.T.H or ' Under Tank Heaters '. These heating pads are great for keeping the crickets warm, as they have a thermostat for constant temperature control. If you use a plastic type container, there is a lot more caution needed to guard against softening or actually melting the container, possibly causing a fire or having the crickets escape, so play it safe and choose a heavy duty glass type container or some other fire safe housing, and a heating source that cannot start a fire.

Crickets like to hide and live inside things, some people place empty wrapping paper tubes inside their crickets home for cave like shelters, while other people actually use outdated, but not moldy loaves of Italian bread. If you want to place a loaf of plain Italian bread inside the container, slice it down the middle and hollow out a lot of the inside, then hold the bread back together with a couple rubberbands, and cut off each end of the bread to make for entrance holes. Crickets love hiding inside the hollowed out bread loaf, and they love eating the bread, so it's the best of both worlds for them.

Besides the bread loaf you should also add a small dish of other food to make sure the crickets get plenty of nutrients to keep them healthy, such as a couple slices of a raw potato, apple, or even a raw carrot that's been sliced up a little, also make sure they have a shallow dish of unclorinated water to drink. You will need another container that will be used as an egg laying area by the pregnant female crickets. They like to deposit their eggs in a moist type of soil, so a little container or natural sand that is damp works well, while some folks also use buss bedding, that's been dampened. Every once in awhile you must gently spritz the sand or bedding with unclorinated water, to keep it moist, if it dries out the eggs will die, and you will lose the brood.

Soon you will see a nice batch of tiny young crickets, that will grow rapidly into healthy adults, you can start removing any of the large adult crickets into their own containers if you want, to start selling to pet stores, or use them as live food for any reptiles and amphibians that you may have. Raising and breeding crickets is something that can easily be done in any home or apartment, some folks set up the entire operation in closets, back rooms or some other obscure place, it's a great way to help fight the winter blues.

How to Shake the Winter Blues or SAD By Doing Computer Repair

Why do some folks dislike the winter time with such a hatred? Is it the snow, the cold, the slippery sidewalks, or is it something else they truly hate, and that is getting the winter blues because they always think there's nothing to do. I have always loved the winter time, from when I was a kid to my present age, I don't care much for the cost of the rising heat bill each year, but as far as the beauty of the winter scenery, I think it's wonderful, truly a gift from God.

Do you like using computers? Why not turn your hobby or activity into a paying one. If you are very familiar with computers maybe you are good enough to do simple repairs and upgrades for other computer owners. I never took a course on computer repair but I have, replaced video cards, sound cards, and internal modems and other devices. I have also disabled or enabled onboard video and sound cards on systems. Replacing or installing video cards, and other devices is pretty easy, they seem harder then they really are. Now, I am talking about desktop computers, not notebook or laptops, they are a whole different breed.

I am not going to go into the details on how to replace a video card or any other device, but I do want to state again, that I have used computers for years as a hobby, and I have replaced such items, including hard drives, myself with no problems at all, saving myself a few thousand dollars in repair costs over the years. I just learned by reading online instructions available on the internet, and by trying to do it myself. I got so good at computer repairs that folks at work started bringing in their systems for me to take home and fix for them, then they paid me when I had the job finished.

If you feel confident that you can replace video cards, sound cards, or do other such repairs, then by all means, why not turn your knowledge into a part time cash paying business, its a great bit of knowledge you have, that is not being used to it's potential. You can always start honing your skills by working on damaged or outdated computers that are often thrown away, or sold for very little money at yard sales and flea markets. I have even had people pay me a few dollars to clean the dust out of their systems. All I had to do was open the case, with the system unplugged, and blow the dust and debris out that accumulates inside the cases over time. I use a can of compressed air, that does not freeze or make condensation, using the spray air that freezes or leaves moisture can damage the components.

It's amazing how many people could not or did not want to remove the computer case and clean out the dust themselves, but instead they paid me to do it, I thought it was pretty neat making $20 for 10 minutes of work. This winter when you don't have anything to do, brush up on your computer repair skills, and make some extra money, while you shake the winter blues.

House-Sitting For Extra Cash

With the weather turning cooler, those who have "winter" homes in warmer climates will begin to make plans to close up their permanent homes and head off to their other residence.

This is a great opportunity for those who have some spare time and are looking to make some steady cash over the long cold winter months.

Many people do not like the idea of leaving their homes unattended for long periods of time and may not have any friends or family willing to take on the obligation of keeping an eye on their property for them.

Offering a House-Sitting Service to these people is a perfect way to help them out and make some steady cash for yourself and gain a name for yourself as a trust worthy person. Check with your insurance agent for any liability insurance or bonding that may be needed as each state may have their own requirements.

As a house sitter you must be observant, organized and prompt in taking care of any potential problems that may arise. You will need to have a check list of the details that you will be responsible for looking after for each customer and the names and numbers for the repair people they prefer for you to use in case of any emergencies. You will also want to know who else may have a key to the home and if they have permission to enter the home when the owners are away. Also, ask the home owners to either remove all valuables or lock them away.

Daily, you will stop at each house that you have a contract with and check for things such as gas leaks, water leaks, dripping faucets, power outages or any moved objects. Make sure all locks on windows and doors are still secure. You may be asked to do other minor jobs like dusting furniture, watering plants, etc. and for this you could charge extra.

Getting started is easy. Try placing a few ads for customers in your local paper, listing your services on Craigslist or start your own website or blog. Check with your local travel agencies to see if they will recommend your services to people taking winter trips. Word of mouth is still a great way to let people know about your service. Be sure to let everyone you know about your part time job. And don't forget about business cards! This little piece of cardboard is a powerful tool for any business person.

Now get out there and get working!

Blankets - What to Buy

When you're shopping for blankets, you want to buy the right one. If you do not buy the right one, even the most expensive ones won't ensure comfort. Here are some insights on various kinds.

Cotton Blankets
They are common. They are popular because of their versatility in appearance, styling or color. They're outstanding as a decent layering piece. Thus they enhance your bed and/or day to day use. Some people are hot-blooded. So these are good for winter nights. Cost varies depending on styling, type, quality of construction and brands. Fortunately, you can always get styles matching with your affordability. They are easy to maintain too.

Down Blankets
They offer durability, comfort and luxurious beauty. Get them if you love snuggling under the blanket. They're cozy, a bit cool to touch - still warm beneath. So you stay comfortable in your sleep. And they're good if you run a bit warm-blooded.

Electric Blankets
They get you warmed up to your desired temperature. You stay cozy and well comforted all through the night. If you're new to the idea of electric blanket, you would be fairly pleased the range of brands offering wire-free designs powered by conductive tape. Such tape offers fully even heating. They also offer lightweight elegance.

For a cheaper alternative, you can go for the conventional versions. They cost almost the same as the modern versions. Though they run one obsolete electric heating technology, but still offer great softness along with lightweight warmth. If you want cheaper deals, you can just try any of those end-of-season sales to make sure your bed stays toasty as well as luxurious.

Fleece Blankets
They're ultra-soft and give you plush feeling of fleece. They reason they are so popular is that they remain wonderfully warm throughout the winter season. Usually, they're small fry and simple to maintain. That is because they're made of polyester along with other synthetic kind of fibers.

Wool Blankets
They offer sheer durability along with nice warmth. You should feel happy owning your wool blanket! But they're not for people who're allergic to wool. For them, a better choice is a woolen blanket covered with cotton.

You can use lightweight weaves year round. A woolen blanket often touches down a broad selection of nice looking plaids, as well as colorful solids enhancing the dcor. Since wool is durable, you should enjoy its long life.

MLM Success - Persistence is the Key

I am currently living in Rhode Island and for those of you readers who hail from the Northeast; you understand where I am coming from when I speak of hibernating for the winter. That's just about what I've been doing. The winter weather has been a good excuse to work on my business primarily through online programs and systems. Today however, turned out to be a really lovely day in Rhode Island and it had been a while since I had taken my dog Toby for a run on the beach. So I decided that since it was so nice out I would drive down to the ocean and get some exercise.

As I started my jog (not quite a run) I was reminded just how long a winter it had been. My legs felt a little weak and I was moving through the sand at a pretty slow pace. Toby, in the meantime, was running like a 3 year old Lab ought to and he was happy as could be. He was busy chasing seagulls and sniffing every piece of driftwood he could find. A dog's paradise I would say. I actually surprised myself as I continued down the beach. I managed to fall into a rhythm pretty quickly and was feeling pretty good about myself (after about 300 yards) however the jetty at the beach's end still looked pretty darn small.

As I moved along at this rhythmic yet embarrassingly slow pace I began to focus my attention on the small rocks along the sandy shore rather than on the jetty which was still way ahead down the shoreline. I simply focused on putting one foot in front of the other I was so much more at ease. It was at that time I began putting things into perspective. You see, I have been working pretty hard lately in my MLM enterprise, because I swore to myself that I would succeed and would not go back to working a J.O.B. (just over broke.)

But as I mentioned previously it's been a long winter, in more ways than one, and there have been days where I could have thrown in the towel and walked away. But something inside me kept me going. That little voice in my heart, not in my head, that reminds me that I have a purpose in life and I must persist, not quit until I fulfill that purpose. That is what moves me forward and keeps me focused. So I keep putting one foot in front of the other and plugging away. No matter how far away my goal is I know that if I consistently take steps in the right direction, day in and day out, I will get there.

I came home from the beach and felt pretty good. My run was not my best ever by any means, but I got it done. And tomorrow I will go out and do it again. That little lesson on the beach just watching the rocks pass by me as I moved slowly down the shoreline was about way more than exercise. It was about everything we do in life. Whenever we feel like the task ahead is bigger than we are we need to remind ourselves to just take one step at a time and keep moving forward. It's like what they say about how you would go about eating an elephant: one bite at a time. Good lesson folks.

To top off my day when I sat down at my computer and logged on to my Face book page, there in front of me was a quick video put up by one of my business colleagues, Ty. Ty is all about positive energy and persisting and his video focused on the importance of persisting until you succeed. Wow, what a very profound and perfectly timed video; like it was meant for me today. Ever felt like things just happen for a reason? That's because they do, trust me. Keep moving forward folks. Don't ever quit. Have a passion for your life and everything in it. Persist until you succeed. Thanks Ty, thanks Toby.

Jim Marr is retired from law enforcement and presently resides in a shoreline community of Rhode Island. He has been married to his wife Marianna for 28 years and they have 3 grown children; James, Patrick and Nina.

Jim is a full time network marketer and writer and has a passion for helping others succeed in all aspects of living. http://www.BizSolutionsbyJim.com
