Now, you have talked to a hostess and she says all the guests will be in jeans so you can dress comfortable in jeans as well. What are you going to do? You are going to dress for success. In a room full of women in jeans, I guarantee that you will get their attention and will be taken more seriously if you present yourself well.

How to Become the Best Networker

I decided to write about this topic because for years now I've received instant messages, emails and even Facebook messages that say, "I want to network with you." After I agree that I'd be happy to network with them, I never hear from the person again. Occasionally what has happened is that after I say, "Sure, let's network," I get a sales message from the person. If I ask them why I received the spam they'll say, "You agreed to network."

Networking with others means helping others, offering others something they want, need and can use. If you sell widgets and I have no interest in widgets, then sending me a sales message for widgets is not something that will help me. I'd like to offer some suggestions on truly networking:

1. Say hello. While this sounds so simple, very few people take the time to even say hello. I find people in such a rush to throw out their sales pitch, they don't even say hello to me.

2. If someone does say hello to you, take the time to respond. I was very impressed with an ad I saw. I wrote the owner of the ad and told her how impressed I was. I never heard back. I'm not one who gives up and I'm also one that knows the internet enjoys snacking on people's emails and so I also sent the same woman a friend request and personal message on Facebook. I never heard back. Not only did this woman lose any possible sale from me, but she also lost any type of referral I might have offered.

3. Take the time to get to know others. How can you help someone if you don't know them? Take the time to get to know others and then offer them things they might use or want. I'll offer two examples. I met a woman on the internet. Her son has autism. Occasionally, I'll come across what look to be great resources for moms of children with autism. I send them to her. I know another woman who tweets about social media. When I find an article or tip I especially like, I'll send it to this woman to consider for her own tweets.

It is my belief that networking is helping others and providing others with what they might want or need. Without saying hello and getting to know them, you won't be able to offer help or resources. These three tips truly can help you become the best networker.

2010 - Year of the Woman

There is a disease in our country which effects the American family and in turn has a domino effect on our Future Leaders, it is called "abuse". Most people when they think of abuse picture a woman with a black eye and straggly hair, all dogged down under some drunk bully. That is only one aspect of it. Have you ever stopped and considered the numbers of women/mothers out there that hide it well because their abuse is not physical? Instead they spend their days "working the plan", the plan of freedom, not just to walk away from the emotional and financial abuse, but to have a life. These women are the mothers of our future Gurus, the people I have spent the last two years soaking up information from. People like Tellman Knudson, Shawn Casey, Josh Shafran, Dan Kuschell, and there are many others.

Dan, helped me un-dig the "warrior" in myself again, Tellman helped me get even deeper into the nitty gritty of the tools of Internet Marketing. Josh, (the man who teaches with his hands), another nitty gritty teacher and Shawn, he has stayed in my face. The one thing they each taught me was YOU HAVE TO SELL SOMETHING YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT. It has taken me a long time to figure it out, but I took a long look at my 16 year old son and had my answer, The American Family. There are an unmentionable number of mothers and children living in abusive situations. Some of these mothers have a plan they have put into action, but need a financial boost to put them over the hump and get them free and clear of the weight that is holding them down. It is virtually impossible to pay a monthly membership fee when you are scrapping to buy groceries. And, it is infuriating when the (I'll hook you up to a mentor) person on the other end of the phone says, "when you can come up with the $197.00 give me a call". It is even more infuriating when you run into that person that "respects" what you are doing, who cares, respect isn't what is needed.

What is needed is people who are willing to Donate to our Future Leaders. The idea is to build a huge subscribers list, (of course). Stop and do the numbers, a list of 6000 subscribers donating as little as $5.00 a month has the capability of moving a mother and her children into a rental home, get the utilities turned on, pay the utilities for at least 9 months, buy furniture if needed, bath towels, pot and pans, clothing, GROCERIES and gas. For a small donation you can be part of changing the atmosphere our future world leaders live in and give them the opportunity for GREATNESS.
