What Is WordPress?

WordPress has become the go-to web development site for many businesses across the world. Since its release back in 2003, WordPress has inspired businesses and entrepreneurs to get creative with their business objectives. It started as a blogging system, but businesses are now using the software program for business websites, portfolios, multimedia sites, membership sites, squeeze pages, landing sales pages, e-commerce, news, and magazines.

For those start ups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs who want to create an affordable business website or blog, WordPress might be the best option for you. There are many popular Content Management System (CMS) Solutions, such as Drupal and Joomia!, that organize content, post-date, categorize, and publish posts and pages. Because they are all very similar, it is fair to say a predominant difference between these content management systems is how simple each is to learn and which one is more appealing. So, why WordPress?

WordPress is easy to use.
WordPress is capable of managing small to full-sized, rich business websites.
WordPress is easy to learn, and you don't need to know how to write code in order to use it.
WordPress has the functionality to easily build a page and/or blog post.

2 Options For Your WordPress Site - Self-Hosted vs. Hosted

There are two types of WordPress pages you can choose from: self-hosted and hosted pages. To understand the difference, it is important to review why you are using it and recognize what you want to get out of it. Here are some advantages and disadvantages to a self-hosted and hosted WordPress site.

Self-Hosted

Pros

Most companies choose to use the self-hosted version on WordPress because it provides you with more control over your website.
You can oversee all your content, advertising, and plugins.
You can personalize all your images and themes.
WordPress has a large supportive and thriving community.

Cons:

You must stop your own spam and back your own site.
You have to pay for your own hosting.
There can be a learning curve with a self-hosted site.
You must upgrade your software before downloading and while maintaining it.

Hosted

Pros:

A hosted site feels like having WordPress as your personal site development helper because it takes care of all the technicalities for you, including hosting.
Your posts are automatically backed up, and your site setup, upgrades, spam management, and backups are all done for you.
WordPress is free, and the probability of your site going down is slim because you are hosted on their high-end server.
There is a high possibility of receiving more traffic to your site from WordPress' "Blogs of the Day".

Cons:

You will have less control over your website due to accessing code restrictions, like less theme choices.
You must upload plugins.
There is a higher risk of content loss.
You may run into branding issues.

In conclusion, if you are seeking more control over your site, a Self-Hosted option is the best one for you as you are able to have total access to modify, tweak, and explore your personal requirements. If you need more assistance with your site & need more direction, the Hosted site option is the best one for you.

WP Member Champ Review

Everyone knows what a gold mine membership sites can be, but many are put off by the perceived difficulty of setting up such a site. It seems like the sort of thing that would require a great deal of technical knowledge or the money to pay for someone who has this kind of know-how.

WP Member Champ is a WordPress plug-in meant to simplify the process of creating a membership site so that anyone can create one regardless of technical skill. Is it worth it? Hopefully, you'll be able to make your own decision by the end of this WP Member Champ review.

First, I'll tell you about how it works. The setup is simple enough. You just install it the way you would any other WordPress plug-in and then activate it. Once you've done this, you can create a sign-up system for your members that will allow them to pay through PayPal to gain access to your membership content.

You can select any area of your site and protect it behind the pay wall so that nonmembers can't see it. WP Member Champ provides a widget for your users to login through and even has a forgotten password function, so you don't have to handle that area of support. You can also link new members automatically to an Aweber list.

That's all well and good, but you're probably wondering if there are any flaws in the system. There is one. It's not so much a flaw as a decision about the focus of the plug-in by the creator. The WP Member Champ plug-in only handles one membership level, and it only distinguishes between members and nonmembers. There's no way to have different tiers of memberships at different prices, so if you're looking to make that kind of membership site, you're unfortunately out of luck.

For everyone else, however, WP Member Champ is a pretty good solution to the problem of setting up a membership site. It goes right into your normal WordPress site, allowing you to set up a membership system within only a few minutes. If you're looking to set up such a system with minimal hassle, this is a good plug-in to buy. I hope this WP Member Champ review gave you a good idea of what to expect.

I use WP Member Champ for my simple membership sites. It is a great way to protect my content from illegal downloading and serial refunders. In addition, I also can use PayPal to accept cash from customers and add them to my mailing list with a few clicks of the mouse.

If you'd like to see the WP Member Champ plugin in action feel free to visit rel=nofollow http://www.wpmemberchampreviews.com to see video of the plugin.

Tim Castleman runs http://www.wpmemberchampreviews.com and offers his no-nonsense review on the newest WP plug in from Jason Fladlien and Wil Mattos called WP Member Champ.

Working From Your Home Computer - Achieving Your Goals of Building a Home-Based Computer Business

Working from home is the dream of many people, and it has been my lifestyle since 2006. If this sounds like what you would like to do, think about what types of work you could do from your home computer to earn a full time income. You must be willing to increase your skills, have a flexible schedule, and understand how to manage your time in a way that is conducive to running a successful home business. If you are able to overcome all obstacles and hold yourself accountable for being as productive as possible, the sky will be the limit as to what you can achieve by working from home.

Technology moves very quickly, so it is important to face the fact that you must become a lifelong learner in order to stay abreast of the latest changes. When I started online in 2006, WordPress was difficult for me to understand. I ended up setting up my sites using Typepad, a blogging platform that was much easier for me to use and understand. During that first year I made a study of WordPress and was soon able to transfer everything over. There was a steep learning curve, but I just kept chipping away at it every day until I was able to make the transition. You will find that it is challenging to learn new technology, and you will be very proud of yourself as you accomplish more over time.

Managing your time will be crucial to your success. Depending on the responsibilities you may have at home, whether it is with caring for young children or elderly parents, or even a health issue of your own. You may be working full time or part-time outside of your home right now. Even if it seems like everyone is pulling you in a different direction from what you would choose for yourself, it is possible to find some time each day to build your online business.

Set a goal for what you would like to accomplish during the next thirty days, and another one for what you want to achieve within six months. Now go about the process of learning what you need in order to go from where you are right now to where you would like to be. I found that everything took me longer during that first year. Then something clicked for me and my productivity began to skyrocket. You can build a profitable online business if you are willing to take action and keep moving forward.

6 Must Have Free Tools For The Newbie Internet Marketer

When starting to learn Internet Marketing or creating your own products and you are short of any spare cash there are 6 free tools that I recommend. You can move onto better paid software if you want however I recommend these few to start with... which I still use today.

Freecorder Tool Bar... A downloadable software that allows you to record many of those 'soon to be taken down' webinar or video replays so you can keep and watch whenever you want. You can learn quite a bit from these pre sales videos and webinars!
Google Mail... with a Gmail account you get Google docs which has free Powerpoint, and Excel style programmes with Google doing the storage. Not only does it save you buying any programmes but should your computer crash you have them saved on a separate server. Ideal for password sheet, which is best not stored on your computer anyway.
Screenr .screenr.com... this is by twitter and is great if you want to make 5 min videos like tutorials. It records what you are doing on your monitor. It is an online software and free to use, you can upload directly to YouTube and Twitter from here.
Windows Live Movie Maker... Again this is free to download and is great to make your films longer, add pics. and videos to create longer videos. You can upload straight to YouTube and Facebook from here.
Audacity... This software needs to be downloaded and is ideal for recording audio projects like podcasts. You will need to download an extension to work with this to convert your audio files into mp3 format. For some reason Audacity needs this extension, it cannot legally give it to you as part of Audacity however it is also free to download and use.
Wordpress... I have played around with different free web design software to build websites but have found the easiest system is to use the Wordpress blogging platform. It can be installed onto your hosting account. You will need to pay for your hosting (unless you use wordpress.com) but building and using the Wordpress system is free and very simple. You can create great professional looking websites with Wordpress and its plug-ins.

Using these free tools will give you a great start into internet marketing. They can allow you to build sites, video and audio tutorials or podcasts, membership sites and information products that you can charge for without the expense that most business start ups require.

The next step in your quest to be financially free, which is what I assume you want from your venture into Internet Marketing and product creation, is an easy to follow business blueprint giving you all the steps on how to create a six figure a year business. For this you will need to find a successful Internet Marketer who has already achieved what you desire and model you and your business on them.

To get access to a proven step by step business blueprint in 7 easy to follow daily videos by a series of successful Internet Marketers who generate a six figure income a year go to http://www.six-figure-formula.com

Club Membership Software - Do It Yourself? Or Get A Membership Site Script?

Club membership software is of great help, if you want to build a steady income online. However, should you "do it yourself", or get a membership site script? Read on, before you decide.

If you sell eBooks or reports, you've probably experienced peaks and valleys in your income. Just after launching a new product, you'll sell lots of copies, but after a while, it fades out. Sales become less frequent, and you have to create a new product, and live through the cycle once more.

With a membership site, you'll earn a more stable income, or you might even experience an increased revenue over time.

This is what makes memberships so attractive. However, you'll need some kind of automatisation, unless you want to create more and more work for yourself.

Keep It Simple: You don't have to create everything from scratch. You can start out with a blogging platform, and either protect some of the pages, and make them viewable only to paying members, or send out the membership content by email.

Use A Consistent Design: Make sure you have the same overall look on your membership site, so your members will feel at home there and will be able to know just by the look of the site that they still are on the right page.

If you're using a blog as a platform for your membership site, use the same design, or one very similar, on your landing page as well as on the protected pages.

Are You A PHP or ASP Programmer? Then you'll be able to build a site from scratch, including, but not limited to, the inscription of new members, tracking of their payments, drip feeding the content, etc.

If you're not a programmer, you'll probably want a simpler solution.

Set Up A WordPress Blog: One way of getting started is by setting up a WordPress blog. This can be done in minutes and without having a lot of technical knowledge.

Get a good looking theme for your blog. Keep the amount of graphics low, and have focus on the content.

Make sure that your sales pages are clean pages, even without side panels, adverts and menus. If you don't know how to remove it from the theme, you can create simple HTML pages to obtain the same purpose. Make these pages look like your blog theme, just without the navigation, etc.

You'll need some kind of membership site script to take care of the payment registration. It's possible to find some that work with PayPal or other portals.

Create protected pages on the blog, and give out a new password each month, or connect your auto responder to this membership site.

Club Membership Software: Instead of spending hours, struggling with a do-it-yourself solution, you might want to get a WordPress Theme that does it all for you.

It's simple, it has a consistent design, it can drip feed your content, add new clients, keep track of their payments, and it's good looking.

How To Work From Home Online In 2011 With Your Own Home Based Business

The world is becoming a very tough place financially and desperate times call for desperate measures. If you have always dreamed about creating your own home based business and want to get things rolling today then read on. Today is the first day of a new start. Let's get started!

Let's start by saying, right here, right now, that it isn't all that hard. Making money online from the comfort of your own home is actually easy when you have the right understanding. There are no requirements of you to have educational qualifications. All you need is a willingness to push and push, no matter what.

Keep your head down, roll up your sleeves and be prepared to put in consistent daily action and the rewards will come. Now, while this all sounds great, you may be thinking what on earth you are supposed to do.

Working on the internet requires you to get exposure to your website, email or offer, no matter what it is. This is the basics of internet marketing. If you want to work from home online with your own home based business then one thing you need to get to grips with is internet marketing.

One good thing to point out is that most people seriously over complicate things. They go to huge expenses, spend thousands of dollars and believe that "their time will come" once they've gone through a "probationary period". To a degree, there is always going to be a certain learning curve to deal with, but really it is only as difficult as you make it.

You may be selling things on eBay or on paid advertising, or by simply trying to get your own website to rank highly in the search engines. Each of these methods, among others, requires you to understand with certainty "what people are searching for".

If 5000 people a day are searching for left handed spiral nut inserts (whatever they may be) and you are selling right handed inserts, this would be a terrible waste, and would certainly indicate a poorly planned campaign.

Therefore, no matter what you intend to do, learning about keywords, i.e. the phrases that people search for, is really important.

The next step is to choose how you intend to do business. One extremely popular method these days is to set up a WordPress blog. The good thing is that these blogs are very much loved by the search engines, and they are partly self-promoting. If you set up a WordPress blog and involve good keyword research then you are already ahead of 95% of other website owners.

In order to make a success out of whatever you want to do online, consider these fundamental principles and be prepared to be blown away with how easy it really is to rank highly in the search engines.

With a WordPress blog you can make your blog(aka website) look as professional as any other website through various themes and plugins which take full advantage of it's incredible versatility. Your site can be an informative site or a fully featured ecommerce website.

When you combine this with the right keyword research you will begin to see impressive results in as little as 7-10 days. If you want to work from home online this year then the time really is now to start looking into this on a more serious level.

It is actually very simple to do - a few simple steps which identify the right keywords that offer good search volume each month, but which are equally lacking in competition from other website owners is the key to true success.

Grab my free 40 page keyword research report absolutely free. This report helps you understand proper keyword research and how to turn this into a thriving business. The time to start is right now if you are looking to work from home online and set up your own home based business. A Review on OptimizePress

The factor that determines whether your website is successfully running is conversion. This is the percentage of people who (for sales) have bought from your site or for content makers, have subscribed to your mailing list or who have become a member of your site.

And for that to happen, you will need a very appealing look for your webpage. Your web design is definitely a huge factor when it comes to page conversion.

You also have to consider how user-friendly your squeeze pages would be to your visitors. Because if they find the navigation too complicated, then they could lose their interest and leave your site instead of subscribing to your offers.

As website developers, it is an advantage to be aware of the helpful tools that you will need to create with those squeeze pages for your prospective converts. And we definitely highly recommend James Dyson's OptimizePress.

This is perfect if you are setting up a site using WordPress. This theme is so easy to use especially when it comes to applying the necessary features that you will need for your site like the comment box, the contact page and even the links to your social networking site.

And most importantly, once your website has gone live and all the squeeze pages were set-up; your web visitors will find them easy to navigate.

This theme would even help you when it comes to creating a good online traffic as your posts could be easily shared and linked to the world's most popular social networking site which is Facebook. With its population alone, you surely won't have any problem getting the word out of your product or a particular project.

Videos are also important in wed developing. Placing them in your site could gain you more viewers. Now with OptimizePress, they can even have those videos seen on their iPads and iPhones because of its compatibility to be viewed.

We also recommend that you add pictures in high definition to your webpage. That will even attract viewers to your site and eventually, they can be your converts. Adding pictures with this theme has also been made easy.

Believe it or not but the internet is where the money is these days. With the right marketing and excellent advertising of your website, you will be able to gain profit more than what you have expected.

This is your time to succeed in your business. The future indeed is right in the palm of your hands.

There are a lot of things that you you can do with [http://www.recommendwp.com/?utm_source=GA&utm_medium=article&utm_term=optimiz...]OptemizePress.

Be smart and download it now so that you can begin creating amazing pages for you and your potential spectators or clients.

Ever Thought Of Running a Membership Site Online? Some Simple Examples To Get You Started

Getting started with a membership website may seem a daunting task at first but is readily achievable. The secret as with many activities is to start simple, perhaps with a short blog, but think big. In terms of approach a membership site owner should position themselves as the expert or consider hiring an expert. This is to provide content for the site. An alternative idea is to consider interviewing an expert or series of experts to create material for the site. In this article 4 membership site models are discussed. Methods for attracting members and keeping them are also presented.

Membership Site Models

The first model is the "download-page-model". This is where the member pays to access a resource page. The author provides a resource in the particular area which may include articles, videos, a forum and other particulars about the area of interest. The fee paid is a one-off. This can easily be setup using a provider such as ClickBank with payment being made through to an online payment service such as PayPal.

The next model is the "fixed-term-content-fixed-fee" model. This content of this site is delivered over a fixed period of time, for example 6 months, via an auto-responder. The fee is paid up front although it is possible to split the fee payment too, for example monthly payment. An auto-responder such as AWeber could be used to deliver the content.

A third model is the "monthly-product-model" which delivers one physical product each month in exchange for a one-off payment. This model is more complicated to set-up but can be done using a WordPress blog using a specialised membership plugin such as "Wishlist".

The final model is the "multi-level-magazine" site. This has an open-term membership and would normally provide access to a resource page with written, video and email content. A forum may also be provided along with webinars and live content to the subscribers. This is the most complicated of the models discussed here but can be accomplished with a combination of WordPress blog (with Wishlist plugin), auto-responder, video creation tools and software to deliver the webinars (e.g. Go-Meeting).

Getting Members and Keeping Them

In order to attract new members to your site some key strategies can be employed. A free sample or offer can be offered to a prospect in exchange for their contact details. Email marketing can then be used to promote the site by giving the prospect further free valuable information and also a trial membership option. An evergreen over, i.e. one that doesn't expire, can be made to potential members too. Another way of promoting the site could be to partner in a joint venture and market the site to your partner's email list. The list would have to be targeted to the particular membership site. A proportion of the income generated due to subscribers would be shared with the joint venture partner.

Keeping members will depend fundamentally on the quality of the content but also depends on the site-model used. The fixed fee models do not require you to keep members although the quality of the website will help to prevent refunds. Attrition and stick rate are important measures and give an indication of how quickly people are leaving the site. Measuring these rates and identifying drop-off points, i.e. when members leave the site, are important. To incentivise the members to stay, bonus offers can be made just before the drop-off point is reached to try to keep them on the site.

Build Your Own Business Website That Benefits Your Brand

Building your own business website is easier than you might think, but unfortunately a lot of the information available is outdated, overly complicated or just plain wrong. The truth is that there are 5 main steps you can follow to create a professional looking website that does what you want it to, whether that be increasing brand recognition or converting more visitors into customers.

Step 1: Planning

Sadly this is a step that is often overlooked, but it can be one of the most important things you'll do. For example think about what sort of site you're building:

Brochure site - includes all the relevant info about your business with no unnecessary bells and whistles
eCommerce site - includes (or just is) an online store
Blog - you can run a standalone blog, or write it as a company blog or news section inside your main website

Once you're clear on what exactly you want, it's time to figure out how you're going to achieve it. 99.9% of you will probably be best off using self-hosted WordPress for your business website, since it's easy to set up, very user-friendly, flexible enough to run a blog section and static pages, and of course completely free.

Step 2: Setup

You'll need to source a domain name and some hosting. The domain name is basically the address people will type in to reach your site, and the hosting is the server space where your website files are saved, just like you'd save personal documents in the space on your computer. Shared hosting packages are great for small business sites, avoid free hosting at all costs.

Depending on your host you may be able to install WordPress automatically through your cPanel, if in doubt just ask them. If not, you can find various tutorials on manual installation a quick Google away.

Step 3: Design

Take care when choosing a color scheme. Use tools like Kuler to find colors that work well together, and avoid any combinations that make text hard to read. As a rule, use 2 or 3 main website colors maximum that tie in with your company logo.

Speaking of your logo, this is one area where it'll pay to bring in a professional. If your budget is low, try searching for "crowdsourcing" sites where you can run a competition and choose from multiple entries. A low quality logo is a huge turnoff for potential customers, and makes a terrible first impression especially if placed on an otherwise well-designed site.

I am not about to suggest that you design a website with no prior experience. Instead, consider picking up a professionally designed theme and just changing colors/your logo. This is a very inexpensive option and will usually turn out much better than hiring an equivalently priced designer.

Bear in mind your goals for the site when choosing a theme, for example if your goal is to showcase one particular product a theme with a minimalistic design, large product image and attractive call-to-action button should be top of your list.

By all means if you have the budget, get a custom design, but otherwise place your focus on professional and effective rather than unique and join the growing number of people using rel=nofollow [http://websiteologist.com]ready-made CMS themes.

Step 4: SEO

Search Engine Optimization is the art of getting your website to rank well in Google et al. There is a lot of information about this online but sometimes the basics can be overshadowed by the lastest fashionable cheat so I'll go over them here.

Page titles: the page titles of every single page on your website should be different, and explain what that page is about. These titles are one of the primary things that can get you ranked in Google, and are worth paying lots of attention to. Bear in mind that the homepage title is of particular importance.

Example:

I'm trying to rank my site for the search phrase "web developer newcastle" so my homepage title might be "Web developer Newcastle | Michelle Dancer". You'll see the description comes first, because that's more important, and only then do I include the site name. I tend to separate them with a pipe because I it's pretty...that bit's up to you!

Follow the same pattern on your internal pages, so a services page might be titled "Web development services Newcastle | Michelle Dancer". The site name is still there, but the more important words are first, and of course I'm fortunate enough to be able to include my desired search phrase too.

Remember the title should always accurately affect the page content, or you'll do yourself more harm than good. If using WordPress, check out the All in One SEO plugin to make setting page titles/descriptions easy.

Content: Sounds obvious, but always remember that using your keywords throughout the copy on your site will help your rankings too. However, don't ever do this at the expense of writing natural, well-formed sentences. The crawler bots are clever, and they will punish you.

Backlinking: Gaining backlinks is a huge subject unto itself but just remember if you do link to your site, don't link the name if at all possible. Link the keywords. So instead of placing my link on the words "Michelle Dancer", I'd place it on "web developer Newcastle" instead.

Step 5: Marketing

If you really want to maximise the traffic to your new site, you'll probably need to put on your marketing hat at some point. Here are some quick tips to help you get started, it's not as scary as it sounds.

Social media: Join Twitter, create a Facebook page, get yourself on LinkedIn and link to your website as much as possible without annoying anyone. This is not the magic traffic-generator that some "gurus" insist it is, but every little bit helps and it's just possible you could create a big following.

Blogging: If you're not already, consider starting a company blog. Customers will find you easier to relate to, you can keep them updated about new products or offers, and if you blog about your industry you'll come to be seen as an expert.

Start a newsletter: There are services like MailChimp that let you start offering a regular newsletter to your customers completely free. This is a great way to keep your brand right in front of them, so you're the first to pop into their mind when they're in need of your services.

Run a competition: This is a great way to launch a site. Publicize your contest on the social sites you just joined, and have people link to you or tweet about you to enter. You can offer a product, a consultation, anything you can think of really!

Conclusion

You'll notice that step 5 is not directly related to building your website, but it's a fact that marketing your new site will take your customer base to the next level so I think it's important for people to be aware of. This outline should give you an idea of the various stages involved in setting up your site, and which order they should be completed in.

I hope this is of use to someone!

Whatever time I can spare is usually spent helping people on forums, Twitter, and my own site about [http://homemadebusinesswebsites.com]building a business website! I like to share.

Not quite ready to set up website yourself? It just so happens I'm a [http://michelledancer.com]freelance WordPress developer, so maybe I can help.

Why Backlink Energizer is Superb?

You can setup it very fast. It is straightforward
You don't have to buy other overpriced rubbish tools
You do not require developer's API such as others plugin to post RSS Feed to Web 2.0

How Backlink Energizer Works? The System

To start with, create 1 WordPress platforms sites. You can setup it on subdomain or buy bunch of cheap.info site, install WordPress there.

Then install. After that, load Backlink Energizer. Put RSS website url and keywords. It does not matter if keywords and URL is not relevant to your niche. This is just for content.

Then simply fill up the web 2.0 profiles (AKA Clusters) with username and password.

Then load up all of your backlinks you want to index into BE.

Specify how many articles and backlinks you want to embed each day. My settings is, put 12 posts per day with 4 URL.

Energize links now!

Wait and see the results.

The tests with Backlink Energizer:

The most hardest issue to get index is profile links. No matter how hard I test, ping url, distribute to all over rss feed aggregator, the back links still not found. So much pain and suffering after doing hard works. 1st, I created 9 Web 2.0 sites. (If you are too lazy to create nine web 2.0 sites, then you can order BE BLISS with Steve Aylor) Then set up it on BE. Just need to input username and password. Then I obtain all profile links I have created earlier, all 200 links, then submit to BE WordPress plugin. I set 12 posts with four hyperlinks submitted in each post. That's 48 links energized everyday. In four days, all back links completed and processed. Then I wait for 2 weeks to let Google Bots indexed into my content. At last, here is the result. I'm really impressed with this great tools! You know what? 180 from 200 backlinks found on Yahoo! I verify at Backlink Watch, 50 profile links is indexed and getting more day after day! What a life saver. The Backlink Energizer WordPress plugin rocks. Up to now, the quickest tools for backlink indexation I have ever paid for.
