Offline Marketing - Is It Right for You?

Do a search on Google or Yahoo for offline marketing. You will find there are dozens of ideas on how to promote a business. Too many choices can lead to confusion and make a person wonder, what is offline marketing? Is it promoting an online business offline or is it promoting an offline business using a combination of Internet and traditional forms of advertising?

Offline and online are becoming hybrid forms of marketing strategy. You need both offline and online if you are going to successfully have an effective marketing strategy. It is the internet that will open up the full potential of your campaign and allow you to develop business with new prospect and customers at a reasonable cost. This is especially true if you are in a service business. The product is you and what is between your ears. The trick is making sure the right people know what is available to them and how to access it.

Traditional advertising often is a shot-gun approach to reaching the target customer being sought. Traditional approaches have been the yellow pages, radio, newspaper, direct mail etc. Get the idea? If asked, "...are you targeted in on the best prospects for your business when these types of advertising is used?" The answer is ALMOST ALWAYS, no or I am not sure. Take two of the most common forms of advertising. Yellow pages and newspapers. Both are expensive, static, inflexible, and not targeted to your customer.

The newspaper is circulated to a specific area, and to a small percent of the population. A recent audit showed that 24 of the top 25 newspapers lost circulation that supports a trend set decades ago. So if fewer than 5% of people in a community subscribe to the paper, you are missing 95% of the potential market. Now it is true, all of those people are not your prospects, but many of them could be...so how do you reach them? One last point on the newspaper... it is expensive.

Yellow pages is next. First, the yellow pages are expensive. It's once a year insertion and your ad will not change, even though your business will. Again, where are you in the yellow pages and is there a competitor nearby. How about all around you. If you do not have an ad and only a listing, you are hard to find and not in the group that someone searches to find you. Your business listing or ad is only one of a heard of sheep that is searching for notice and visibility. It is not going to happen in the yellow pages.

The Internet has several advantages over both the newspaper and yellow pages.

A targeted audience - spend your money wisely on the right people

Low cost- pay for only those that show an interest in your product

Large display banners - Ad color and visibility that can't be missed

Connect with your prospect-Know who is looking for you and reach out to them

So the question "is offline marketing right for you, the answer is a definite yes. Because you will be using several offline techniques to market your business online. ALL of those offline techniques are tied to your online website. Knowing how to use them to your advantage is the key.

How to Start a Duct Tape Wallet Business - Where to Find Black Duct Tape and 24 Additional Colors

Most people know duct tape to be gray or silver.

What they don't realize is it is also available in camouflage, safety stripe, and aqua blue too.

And while black is still a sought after color deserving a spot right up there beside gray or silver, today I want to discuss the great variety of colors of duct tape which are available to you.

This Back Pocket For Colored Only

The additional cost to carry several colors is more than offset by the fact that you can appeal to a wider array of customers with your wallets if they are available in a variety of colors and combinations.

Once you begin producing duct tape wallets from the colors available, you will see that people are literally surprised when they discover that the waterproof fabric they have come to know and love is also available in their favorite color.

Alright, this is the selection which can be obtained from our supplier:

Purple
Dark Blue
Pink
School Bus Yellow

Mix And Match Colors For Best Effect

A great way to attract significant attention is to mix and match colors in order to produce wallets that would astonish those stuffy types who swear by their black accessories.

Some pretty extreme impressions and finishes of duct tape can be found in specialty craft shops like Michael's and they almost always have a good selection of tie die patterns in various hues and even chrome duct tape can be found from time to time. And while there are plenty of companies selling duct tape, the colors listed above are only available from Tape Brothers, the people who supply our company.

You will soon find that one of the major advantages to having access to several colors is the ability to build wallets that correspond to corporate colors in order to interest them in this unique marketing concept.

Because once you have seen an orange and purple duct tape wallet, there is no going back to black.

Here's hoping you stick with it!

Thank you, friend.

MLM Personalities Series - Utopian Yellow

We are continuing our series on personalities for your mulit-level marketing training. To quickly recap the purpose, network marketing is a people-based business. In other words, the foundation to success in this industry lies in our relationship building. The more we understand people and the various personalities, the more we can relate to individuals, recognize their needs, and provide solutions while "speaking their language."

Remember, our product is people, not our nutrient drink or coffee beans! When we come to this realization, our business will begin to take a new direction in the positive. Studying people is vital, and plays a significant role in prospecting. The sooner we appreciate this truth, the better, so let's continue with the second of the four personality types...Yellow!

A Yellow personality welcomes a utopia atmosphere, embracing everyone in their presence. They are your nurturing, gentle, caring natured beings who love the world. When you're conversing with a Yellow, you will find that they will talk, then listen to you, talk, then listen to you, showing genuine concern about your passions & goals. They're attracted to seeing others do well, and dislike bullies, conflicts, and pushy aggressive people.

Here are common characteristics of a Yellow personality:

 Team players and family-oriented
 Value unity
Tend to be teachers, ministers, social and union workers
Open about their feelings, but indirect
 Great desire to help others
Motivated by a cause that will positively impact the world

As you can imagine, Yellow's are relationship oriented, so building solid teams is certainly one of their strengths. Weaknesses lie in their sensitivity to rejection and buying others excuses. They are great leaders once they are nudged and overcome this weakness.

What to say when prospecting with a Yellow? Talk about the causes that your company donates to. Discuss goals they have for their family and how taking advantage of this opportunity will help support their endeavors. Also share how their role as a leader will directly impact their team towards success in their goals.

Remember, they love helping people... show how your opportunity allows them to do just that, and you have a strong player on your team!

To your success.

Quick and Easy Marketing Tools For Your Notary Business

Notaries should make a modest investment in essential marketing tools. Here are the four basics-and two more you really should consider.

1. Business Cards
You don't need the most expensive business cards you can find. VistaPrint offers quality business cards for free. Cards should have all of your essential contact information, including your email and website.

You can include a physical address if you have an office where clients meet you. If you're a mobile notary, you can include your PO Box, but it's not necessary.

2. Website
Like with business cards, you don't need a top of the line web presence. You can purchase a template site. Pick one that looks professional. Your site has to feature your service areas, including any niche offerings you provide. Highlight your competitive differentiators. What makes you the best option in town?

Your website should also include industries you serve and regions of operation. This takes us to the next marketing tool....

3. Yellow Page Ad/Search Engine Optimization
Yellow pages are declining in use. But many notaries still get significant business from them. If your audience is older and less computer savvy, the yellow pages make sense. If you're new to using the yellow pages, start out small and see what impression it makes.

But if your audience consists of people who haven't cracked open a phone book in years, skip the yellow pages and go straight to search engine optimization (SEO). Read SEO for Notaries for more on how to make SEO work for you [link to SEO for Notaries article].

4. Brochure
Gone are the days of all businesses needing a stockpile of brochures and pamphlets marketing their company. Today, you can have these professionally designed, but save money by printing them yourself or on-demand at a quick print shop.

If you're on a tight budget, make sure the quality still makes a professional impression.

Depending on your audience, you may rarely have a need for printed materials. Instead, PDF versions may work just fine. Email these to people requesting information on your notary business or as a follow up to conversations at business functions. Now, for two more marketing tools you should have to grow your notary business:

5. Giveaways
If you attend tradeshows or community events you should have some giveaways. The most common and affordable options include pens and notepads. But you're better off giving away something people will look at regularly. Calendars are good options.

Consider also sending these giveaways to your clients as a "thank you" gift. Do it every year and they'll look forward to it.

6. Email Marketing
Communicate consistently with your clients and prospects. You'll be top of mind when they need a signing agent. The content must be of interest to your audience and tie into your services. Make the design visually appealing and consistent with your overall brand. Constant Contact and iContact have templates and affordable distribution methods.
