The Pros and Cons of Working at Home

Working at home is the dream of a lot of individuals today. This could partially be due to the collapse of the economy in 2008, but I think it is also because people want to be independent. They are simply tired of the rat race, and need to get out. However, as with any other business, working at home has its pros and cons. Here are just a few things that you can expect when working at home.

The Pros

Set Your Own Hours. One of the greatest advantage of working at home is that you can set your own hours and your own schedule. You have no one to tell you that you need to start your work-day at a certain time or end it at a certain time. If you are a �morning person and would like to get your work done in the morning, then by all means do so. But if you would rather work in the evenings, then you are free to do that as well.

Work at Your Own Pace. Working at home also allows you to work at your own pace. If you need to take a break every hour, then you are free to do so, as you have no boss watching over your shoulder anymore.

Your Money. When you go to work each day, you are basically working your tail off for someone else to get rich. However, when you work at home, any money that you earn goes directly into your pocket. Thus once you have established your business, you will be able to double, if not triple your wages.

The Cons

Working Long Hours. You may be able to set your own schedule, but the truth is, that when you first begin your home-based business, you will have to work long hours. This means that you will have to give up family time or time that you spend with your friends.

No Pay. When starting your own business, no matter what kind of business it is, you will be required to spend some time working without being paid. Depending on the nature of the business, this could be months or even years. Many people who start an online business do not receive their first paycheck between 6 months to a year.

Nevertheless, once you have your business up and running you can continue to earn a residual income and may even be able to hire others to run it for you so that you can sit back and relax and watch the money coming in.
