Touch Lives to Make a Real Difference in Your Life

It is too easy to complain about why others get paid more or receive more than you. When you look around do you see rock stars, sports stars and movie stars making your money than you and you find yourself thinking No Fair? Do you feel that the unsung heroes such as school teachers, firefighters, nurses and law enforcement personnel are grossly underpaid?

What about struggling and mid-income salespeople who have worked just as hard, who know their product just as well and serve their clients as do wealthier salespeople? No fair!

What people get paid can seem so arbitrary. But it really isn't at all once you understand the governing principles it makes perfect sense. We were all taught that the way to get the things you wanted in life all you had to do was;

1. Aspire to a worthy goal
2. Work hard
3. Be a good person

The key is to simply do more if you wanted more. It also says don't just want something, want it real bad. Working towards a goal is not recommended, but work real hard is and while doing this you must be good, really good.

What you earn is not a reflection of your goodness, or your worthiness or your industriousness: it is a reflection of your impact.

The first principle states that creating more value than you take in payment is the foundation of sales success. But simply creating more value for people will not necessarily increase your sales or your cash flow. The second principle says that in addition to adding value to your process, you must also touch as many people's lives as possible.

Let's break this down into more simple terms. The first principle determines how valuable you are; your potential for success or how much you could earn. The second principle determines how much you actually do earn. Put another way; your earnings are directly proportional to how many lives you touch.

Meeting more people is not necessarily the key to touching lives. What do you bring to these people's lives is more important. We call this something personal impact. When you meet people and touch their lives you need to leave an impact.

So what exactly is your task? It is this: do not simply sell your product or service, but create an experience of value that has a positive impact on people's lives. Money is not a measure of goodness or worthiness; it is a measure of impact. If you want more income, have more impact. When you touch lives your life will become more meaningful and the rewards are immeasurable.

I am a firm believer in maintaining an active lifestyle. There are no magic bullets to good health. Eating the right foods, getting plenty of exercise and of course spending quality time with loved ones. I have been truly blessed with many people in my life.
