At what point in life does it become acceptable to let your intellectual curiosity and pursuit of knowledge die? For a good majority of us it is at some point after college when we get comfortable with the tasks of our job and run on autopilot. We all have been guilty of it at times. Hours in front of the television, reading gossip magazines, reading endless emails and meaningless banter over IM. There is unlikely a person out there who isn't on occasion guilty of these or something similar. Please, do not get me wrong, we all need a release, but we also need to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones to grow - and I doubt many of us do that very often. I am going to challenge every single person who reads this to start pushing the limits and ask "what if?"
I have had countless conversations in my life of people about entrepreneurial ideas, yet the number of those that get acted upon is still probably in the single digits. I am guilty of it, and if you have ever had an idea and not acted on it you are too. Of course, there are capital constraints and time constraints to some of these that make the impossible. Or is that just the excuse we give ourselves to not risk the potential for failure. Who cares if you fail?

I am not saying that you should wipe our your life savings and go for broke, although that can certainly be a huge motivator, but at least keep your intellectual curiosity alive and learn some of the skills to make it a reality.
Right now those skills are on the Internet. Laugh if you want, but take a look at a few of these stats first.
- Over 1.5 million pieces of new content are placed on Facebook on a daily basis.
- The amount of content put on You Tube over the past 2 months is more than the amount of content that would have been produced by ABC, NBC, and CBS if they broad-casted 24/7 since 1948.
- Twitter had over 1.2 BILLION tweets and 73.5 MILLION unique visitors in January of 2010. It's unique visitors are up from about 6 million a year ago (or over 1,100%) and on month over month percentage terms from December by 12.7% (or 320%+ annualized).
This means there is a new economy and if you do not know how to survive in it you will be left behind. Approximately 67% of US GDP is consumer spending, and right now the consumers are spending their time on the Internet.
