Timely If your goals are not attainable and realistic you are setting yourself up for failure. If they are not measurable you won't know when you reach them. Making them specific and timely is necessary for you to create the plan to achieve them. Some people hesitate to set a date for a goal. They say it puts too much pressure on them. I felt that way myself, but only because I was accustomed to other people setting the date. When you set the date yourself, it's a good kind of pressure. The only thing that stops you from setting a date is fear of failure. And we need to overcome that with positive thinking and self development. Once you have a date, and a very specific goal, you write down the actions you will need to take to attain that goal. Work backwards from the date and figure out when each steps needs to be completed. For example, let's say your goal is to reach the next "pin level" in your company in 3 months. How many people do you need to sponsor each week for 12 weeks?
How many people do you need to connect with to make that happen?
How will you connect with that many people? Once you know how many contacts you need to make and how you will do that, you can get busy and get into massive action, but it will be focused action. One of the biggest mistakes people make is to get scattered in their activities. They try to get every marketing method they know of going at the same time, and don't concentrate on getting really good at one thing. Or they lose track of time doing one activity so they never get to the next one. Having a plan will help you stay focused on the activities that are really important for producing results, and not forget anything. Why Do You Need a Plan in MLM?
I used to think the only reason an entrepreneur would need a business plan is to prove to investors that they can actually make money. In MLM we have no investors, so why do we need a plan? Plans help you achieve goals. Now, goal setting is something I also resisted for a long time. The reason is that in my corporate life, someone else was always setting goals for me, without my input! Has that happened to you? It is very frustrating! I struggled to write plans to meet someone else's goals. In MLM however, nobody else is setting goals for you. There are incentives of course, but it is your choice whether to strive for each incentive. Did you start a business to make money though?
