I cherish the work at home jobs I've had. I am truly grateful for them, which is why I've dedicated my work now to helping others find their way home. I want to take the time to share why working from home is so important, why you should treasure it, and why you shouldn't spend another day working outside the home.
I Can Breastfeed My Baby
I won't rehash the benefits of breastfeeding here, but I do want to share that I could only do it working from home. I have breastfed all of my babies for at least one year, and working on a laptop and on the phone from home made it easy to do. The best purchase I made for my babies was a boppy pillow. I breastfed them using the boppy, which allowed me to free my hands to work on the computer at the same time. Don't worry about losing any bonding time because you work at the same time. You can't help but play with your baby's toes, or rub her feet while you breastfeed and work.
I Can Work on Speech with My Autistic Son
You don't have to leave a child with special needs behind for a job outside the home. I cherish the daily interactions I have with my autistic son to love on him, give him the one-on-one attention he needs and work with him to communicate. I can only do that because of the flexibility that work at home jobs provide. I am able to stop working to meet his needs either right away or within a few minutes, depending on the job. This would be impossible for me to do if I was working outside the home.
I Can Tickle my Toddler on Demand
Nothing beats your toddler running over to tackle you on the couch for tickle time. I have stopped working every time to do it, with no guilt or regrets. The only guilt I would have is being away from my toddler and missing those moments. My little one doesn't do this all day long so that I can't get any work done. By the time he's awake, I'm done with most of my work and he does it just enough to remind me why I made the choice to work at home in the first place.
I Can Better Manage My Home and Work Responsibilities
Cleaning my house, keeping up with my family schedule, returning library books, paying the bills and other tasks and chores are more manageable when you work from home. It really is the best solution for accomplishing all of the tasks you have to do as a parent, spouse or both. Life becomes more chaotic when you add the dynamic of a job away from your home on top of everything that you have to do. A simplified approach is to do it all from home.
I Can Corner My Husband for Some "Afternoon Delight"
If your spouse works at home too, or close by, then you will cherish this work at home benefit. Marital intimacy is important to my husband and I, and a job outside the home would make it difficult to make the time for it. I'm not a night owl, and by the time I get the kids to bed, I'm ready to sleep. I'm at my best in the mornings and in the afternoon, and the flexible hours of a work at home job allows my husband and I to enjoy each other when I am at my best.
I hope that this list will inspire you to create your list of things that you would cherish if you made the switch to a work at home job. When you take action, your list can be a reality and not just a dream.
