For example, I recently became re-acquainted with an old high school acquaintance who lost her job and was in dire circumstances. She is a single mom of a two year old, had $5.00 in her bank account and was actually looking into checking into a homeless shelter because she literally could not find work.

Use your contacts and network to help other moms find work at home if possible. Reach out to others in different industries and just ask if they have work at their office or know anyone who needs someone to work from home for him. People like to help. I sent an e-mail to a few friends about my old high school acquaintance and within minutes I had responses and great ideas and leads for her.

Another way to help is to assist with resume preparation. There's nothing like a second set of eyes on that resume to give you a fresh perspective and new ideas which will help you stand out in the job pool.

You can also direct friends to the familiar working home websites you know and check up to make sure they successfully find work. If you see someone who is struggling during these tough times, lend your support. One of the best ways to find a job is to use your contacts and network. You never know, the friend you reach out to help may be helping another friend if they need an employee.
