First off, you should discuss this with everyone, including your friends. Tell them that your home will now be your business center and at certain times, they may not be welcome there because of your work. Let your kids tell their friends as well. Declare an area in your home as a business center and its off limits to everybody and should be a low noise zone as well.

Second, create a business plan where you will be able to chop and scatter your work schedule at home in times where the family is not completely together. You should dedicate this time for your family. If unavoidable, create a schedule with your wife or husband for kid duty. Especially with small kids, adult supervision should always be prioritized.

Be flexible. There may be times when family obligations will take the front seat in your priorities, and some of your work may suffer. Accept the fact that you may need to sacrifice some of your rest time later on to catch up on your work.

Get a different perspective. Don't get frustrated with your kids if at times they may get rowdy and interrupt your work. See this as an opportunity to be near your kids and is better than working in a small cubicle a thousand miles away.

In summary, a work from home business center is doable with communication among all parties involved along with flexibility and patience on all sides.
